I have a Raptor E550 with a Spectrum DX7 dual satellite and I need a new Gyro. Which gyro is the easiest to setup that will work with my setup? I fly normal aerobatics and very mild 3d. Thanks.

Only because you already have spectrum, I would say ar7200 or one of the other spectrum gyros. They set-up quick and easy. They fly very nice.

Or what ever you can get local help with...when in Rome, do as the Romans....

They're all pretty good.

See if you can find a good used Futaba GY-401. I can't believe Futaba discontinued them.

Single axis gyro will do him no good. The E550 is FBL.
The 401 is now ancient technology, long ago surpassed in performance by the GY520 and GY701.

Sorry Dr. Ben, you are correct... I read Raptor. Didn't register the "E". The AR7200BX is indeed the way to go.

I still have several "flybar" helis... Almost all of them are wearing 401s.

The 401 is still a good product. It's just after what is the better part of decade of production, Futaba reasonably thought it time to retire. You would not believe how many were sold per month during the initial height of the 450 class craze .

Hi Ben,

If you told me a million per month I'd believe you... It is/was my GOTO gyro for everything with a flybar. Just my opinion, but I think the advent of 3 axis FBL gyros is what ended it's reign. It seems FBL is the wave of the future. And why not I suppose, the 401 sold for about $120 normally, and $99 on sale. Now the AR7200BX is going for $140 and stabilizes all three axis and includes the receiver. The price difference is small, the helis are simpler, and performance is arguably better with FBL. I think a lot of the improvement in performance is better servos though.

Wild Bill, I apologize for inadvertently hijacking your thread.
