Ive always wondered if anybody made a heli cover, yo know like a custom fit type thing for when the heli is just sitting at home waiting for the next outing and all you can do is look at it, so the cover has to look cool to............Anybody know of anything like this.

Thanks

Here is a tote bag for helicopters. Click on link to see it. http://www.heli-world.com/Merchant2...&Category_Code= I bought one before and they are nice. I also had a foam company make me a custom insert that fit around my helicopter and protected it from being knocked around in the bag.

Take Care,
CheersPatrick

Wingbags.com

These guys are in Washington state. They specialize (obviously) in padded bags for wings, but they will also custom-make bags in all shapes and sizes. You provide the measurements or a physical template.

I haven't seen their bags yet, but I plan to order a couple in the next week or so - I'd be happy to post my opinions when I get them.

Has anyone here dealt with them? I'd love to hear some personal opinions.

They are a great company! Fast Service, good help, and there quality is awesome! I love mine!

But, I don't think they're still making the Heli-totes! A friend and I were told by wingtote that we got the last two, and they made us a great deal on em too! That was several months ago. Supposedly they are going to start making them again. They said something about going to an easier to manafacture design. I haven't seen anything about them since then. Maybe some dealer somewhere has some left over though?

I do like mine though! I still don't know if a big heli would actually fit, but it fits my Rappy V2 50 just fine!

Hope this helps, you should try to email em and ask them!

Oops! I should have read a little more carefully! The company I am talking about is Wingtote - not wingbags. I've never heard of them before! Sorry!

Thanks Rappy

These folks are actually local, so I may just show up at their doorstep with a couple of the helis that I want bags for. Seems that may be easier that working over the phone with measurements, etc. Not sure they accept "walk-ups", but I'm keeong my fingers crossed..

I've been trying to get one of these things for month!

At least I know now what happened to the last of them

Thanks much!

Pretty cool!

Help keep the heli toasty?

What I'm planning to get are a couple of padded carry bags - Nothing that you'd use to tranport on a plane, but something to stuff the heli in before tossing into the back seat (leather)

Picture a soft case that a bari-saxophone (a.k.a. 90-size sax) might fit in...

Damn - That might actually work!

hahaha now people start looking for this type of stuff. I brought the idea up here on RR and another forum about 6 months ago for a "bag" not a "hard box" to carry your helis in and was laughed at and told it was stupid and pointless.

I was thinking of something like a golf bag style setup and even went as far as contacting manufactures about them but without the backing I through the idea away.

I also was making some different design blade holders in soft and hard side that could be ordered from 2 to 12 blades and 550mm to 910mm

Oh well, guess I should have just done it and seen what happened

Helibagman

There used to be a guy on RR that produced a heli specific bag. I think he went by the name helibagman, but he wasn't around very long.

This idea isn't new. There have been several different vendors offering "heli-bags", from time to time, since I started fooling with helos in 1992.

The reason these guys never hang around for long is us; as in, cheapskate fliers. A quality bag to carry a model helicopter in is rather expensive to produce, and will have a commensurate selling price.

I bought one for my TSK back in the mid-90s, from what later turned out to be a shade-tree vendor with a good idea that he simply couldn't develop properly. I paid around fifty bucks for it, and was somewhat underwhelmed. It was made of cheap imitation leather (aka, vinyl) and had a brass zipper that jammed the fourth time I used it. It ended up as a temporary coffin for a cat that wouldn't take a hint and stop urinating on my door step.

A few years back, I saw a really nice bag, made of Cordura, with a heavy-duty YKK zipper and solid bottom to support the machine. It had side pockets for goodies, and a place along the bottom to store the blades. My X-Cell 60 would fit in it easily. The guy said he bought it from an outfit in England; for the princely sum of $150 or so, plus about $25 over-the-pond shipping. Eeek... I wanted one, but not that badly.

I used to have the URL for those guys, but seem to have lost it in my bookmarks when I changed computers a while back. I dunno if they are even still in business; but they made a fine product. Just a bit too steep for my blood back then. Today, I might spring for one...

GreggyPoo, go over to RCU and contact JohnVH; he's a moderator there, and alledges to have just begun working at that wing bag place in Washington state. There's a thread about wing bags for planks, and some complaints about slow/no delivery, etc. There are two different firms being discussed and I didn't pay that much attention to who was being complained about.

But you might get lucky...

Thanks for the advice Steve

Thanks Steve - I didn't realize the RCU moderator was local to me - I'll check it out -

I just got the templates made up today (one for a 50 size and the other for a Robbe Cuatro) and will fax them off to wingbags tomorrow - I'll keep you posted on delivery time, cost, and (if everything goes well) my impression of the bags.

Thanks again.

I make Tote Bags

I make them, I will post pics to my gallery ASAP.

They are nice, and are a big hit here in SA.

I will keep you guys posted. They are cheap.

I have sent one (the tote bag) to Paul of model-avionics.

He has pics also, if anyone knows Paul maybe he/she can get the pic from Paul before next Monday.

Please check Gallery

I posted some pics of the Heli bag I make.

I started making one for myself, then my friends also wanted one. Now they are very successfull here in South Africa.

I worked it out to be $39,50 each and will take upto a R50 V2.
If pilots are interested, I can find out the postage costs.

I have soulder straps, so that it sits over the shoulder and I keep the tail under control in front of me with my free arm.

It is water proof lined inside, and fuel proof (I poured fuel into the bag to see what happens)

I am measuring for a 60 size heli.

And when factories open, I will make some.

Please comment, suggest, help!!

I am thinking of labels badges, embroided stuff, but have no rights to any of the registered brands so again, club badges etc, are under consideration. Personal names
