Hey Mark:

It might do that but I really hate it when a change in blades might have made the difference between a hover and a bobble.

Stan:

I still have two (or more) points on my pitch curve that could be used to soften the hover position. I will need to verify that I do have it hovering at dead center and then can add a couple of more points to give me some wiggle room on the rudder/pitch stick.

I hope to see both of you at one of either the Nats/IRCHA or Darrell's. Take care.

Don

PS: If the full size Ranger could do a loop, I would have that in my routine all day long as I have looped it many times for giggles, lol.

Whatever you do, don't get those crappy plastic scale blades from RCA. They are power-hungry (about 15% more that the cheap symmetrical blades), track badly, and the heli is almost guaranteed to porpoise in FFF.

I tried a set on my 4x 600mm Seahawk, and they were not good. I went back to a set of 4x 600mm cheapie GF symetrical blades from HK, and while not wonderful, are vastly better than the plastic ones.

Also consider blades from HeliTec;

or LH rotation / CCW

Otherwise I would go with the Spin scale blade set.

The guys are correct though, if you are seeing drivetrain heat, it is likely that your setup needs to be looked at (gearing, throttling back too far with ESC, running the motor at an inefficient speed etc) and / or simply hot ambient conditions with minimal/no ventilation.

Plastic blades
Thanks Andy01!

I too have had the same results with these blades.
