i have an xcell 60 with a cms 360 gyro. normally this heli flies extremly smooth and straight as an arrow. today went flying and it was fairly cold high 30s wind chill probally below freezing. when i pitched the nose in the air i could see the tail wagging not much....but you could see it wag.
was it because of the cold? should i mess with adjusting or just fly it!
it sat outside for about 15 min before i fired it up. any comments?

thanks!

Might be the 360. However, it could easily have been the batteries too. At low temperatures (30 degrees F is a bit cold) they do not perform as well (lower voltage to your servos). This can have the effect of reducing servo speed, which will affect gyro performance.

Try keeping the batteries warm before the flight. Reducing gyro gain should help too. Or, wait for spring.

Try lowering your gain a little on your gyro when it is cold out. The grease in the servo, and the oil from the fuel on the tail rod and pitch change mech. on the tail, gets considerably thicker when cold out.

In addition to this, the tail blades become more effeicient in cold air. They actually perform better and bite the air harder. It can cause the previous gyro gain setting used when warm out to be too high of a setting now. Back it off a couple of points at a time to see what happens.

Of course your tail servo or flight battery pack could be getting weak as well. If lowering the gain a little does not clean it up, check the servo and battery pack. You should check them both first anyway before you fly again.
