I read earlier thread comments on link sizing tool. Is there such a thing or does one just make one from an old ball link that has been roughed up a bit (as described earlier with pair of wire cutters)?

JR makes a link sizing tool.

It works really well on the JR links, and not as well on others.

I have one and stopped using it. Using a pair of pliers to gently squeeze the link when it is on the ball seems to do the trick.

jr tool mod

the jr tool works better if you take a dremel and cut away more of the tool. this allows the screw to go in deeper and spread the cutting faces farther apart.
