Hey All

I was just wondering if the New MultiPlex/HiTec EVO 9 or 12 Radio will work with Futaba recievers??? I've been trying to e-mail Karlton about this but his e-mail is down and since he seems to be the only one that has them... I thought I'd ask here.

Thanks!!!

I just got an EVO12 to replace my ZAP WCII. Beats the crap out of Futaba or JR for scale. It will work with Futaba of JR receivers BUT they have to be PPM and NOT PCM. The Rx crystal has to be the same make as the Rx, i.e. Futaba Rx - Futaba Rx crystal.

Hey Dave Hollins

WOW Thanks for the Quick Reply!!!

I'm getting one with the Synthesized module so I don't need Crystals like my Futaba(using HiTec module for FM).

Will the Synthesized module work with Futaba recievers with Futaba Crystals, or do I need to get MultiPlex/HiTec Crystal???

Thanks!!!

Nope

Brad,
You should be able to run the same crystals that you are using now in your RX and with the synth TX.
Like was previously said though you won't have the "advantage" of the IPD failsafe or the ability to use PCM with the EVO when using anything but the Multiplex rx's.
I talked to the Hitec gang for quite a bit at the Hobby Visions show about those radios.
Please post a review when you get yours up and running. I was considering buying the EVO 12 myself soon as they hit the street more.
I would guess you will be getting one of the first in the US.

If you are getting the synth module, I would also recommend the scanner module. With this the Tx will not transmit unless your channel is free You can also use it to scan all frequencies.

There are also two extra switches you can buy for the front of the case above the sticks.

Hey fitenfyr

Thanks for the Reply!!!

GREAT!!! Yea, I don't use PCM on my Gliders, never made difference...hahaha Those are the ones I was worried about using with this radio, I've got 14 of them I didn't want to change...hehehe

I'll just get those IPD recievers for the Heli's(I've only got 2)

Do they make a Synthesized IPD reciever, I've looked around but haven't seen anything???

So from what your saying there NOT here yet... WOW Karlton said he had some last time I talked to him(when his e-mail worked)... Well I'm going to wait until the AMA show in Ontario, Ca. next month and get it there from him(Karlton).

Thanks!!!

There is a part number and price for a IPD Synth receiver, BUT it has not been released yet, I think they are still testing it. Pi**ed me off as I had to get two normal IPD 12channel receivers

PLEASE DO SO!!!

3 months ago I crashed because someone was on my frequencie, but I cought the son of a ****** with my scannermodule in my Multiplex 4000...

The crash was his fault and I got $1000 out of it

So to me, the scanner was a worthwhile investment!

Cheers,

Rich

Hey Raptor Rulezzz

I haven't had that kind of Problem, for a few years(7 yrs). Since I'm a Ham guy, I just built a 20 amp booster... Anytime I get hit I just flip a switch and No Problems. Well at least for me... Once I flip the switch I do Full Throttle until I'm up a bit, then 3D...hehehe

Once I watched some A$$HOLE freak out... really funny wrecked his New X-Cell and kind of watched it beat it self to death on the ground(Bone Head didn't have a Towel on him)... hehehe After I landed walked over to him and told him to check his Freq next time. Eveyone at the Field really laughed at him. Because a few of us have Amp's on our radio's... Never saw him again... Oh Well...

But you really have to be carefully using that Amp, because if you hurt anybody its YOUR FAULT!!!

You can always tell someone that has an Amp, it needs 12V and usually on a belt pack(batteries), the Amp will be on the back of the radio, about the size of 2 pack of Cig's with a heat sink.

Scanners sound nice if its part of the radio... I've got a Multi-Freq scanner, that will lock on a range of Freq's, but carrying it out to the field is a pain(one more thing). So the built-in one sounds Great!!!

Great Flying!!!

that`s nice and all but I`m just to glad he just payed me the $1000...

If I made him crash he would have had $100 worth of damage... just a plane trainer!

And at that time I was flying PPM so an amp would have brought me down anyway!

Cheers,

Rich
