Cool.
Would have scared me too.lol...

Funny though...From the cameras view of it all,a failure would have plowed it into the dirt so not really as dangerous as it probably looked to an onlooker that had no idea what his intentions were.lol...

Always scary to people not in control.

I hope this thread generates some great videos.

I have put myself and wife behind a Flight Line Trailer at a Model Air Show : ERIE
Dead Nutt's serious too because it didn't feel right - You knew it was not safe - No reason to be foolish - for others & pride .

Gave me the creep's when the demo started.

Air Show full of Kid's and the full Gambit. Crowded right up against a 20' wide flight line on a asphalt / rope line and packed shoulder to elbow during a private flight breakfast for full scale.

To see a Model airplane demo: a X organization

Two Guest's volunteered to do a DEmo :

1st Fury in a extended high altitude tail down vertical down line grenades on the asphalt at their feet. Pick's up his partner's to prove he can do it -

It was dialed in with different curves - Repeat's the same exact event again ;; In both cases the tail blew out in the vertical down
line.

It grenades on the asphalt at their feet again in front of a bunched crowd. Less than 20' wide

TWICE

Found a part of the tail case behind the Air Show trailer we stood the corner of .

Nuff said as it would of plowed into the dirt and not be as dangerous?
Their is responsibility and their are victum's and their are sheep.

YEA ! LOL Ha- Ha

No I didn't go to the line - to see if anyone got sprayed -I took Missy and walked away. Seen a few - Sorry

call me kernel sanders when others fly 3D or try, you'll find me next to a vehicle for cover, just in case something goes wrong.

Bert is amazing, and I would want to watch too. But I believe I'd have been watching with a little real estate between me and Bert.

I sometimes will take cover to watch a flight. I have seen more than one guy get chased out of the spotter position by a pro... Sometime I think they forget they're just flesh and bone themselves. A high speed 700 hit is a proven killer, you don't need to be a Rocket Surgeon to feel the danger while standing out there! Any Brain Scientist worth his slide ruler can do the math on "what if it hits me... "

I shot this vid at OHB. My camera was crapping out so it came out a bit dark.

Bert and Kyle Mcdoogle at the same time and Nik Johnson runs away from the flight line!

Bert's gain was a bit high and everyone thought it was going to plow into the ground.

Excellent flight and excellent event. I praise Bert for organizing such a good show

I wonder if one these pro's decapitates someone what that will do for the hobby

I know they have talent but they show very little judgement
kinda of like kidz playing with knives

1 fatal accident at a main event may put this hobby to rest forever

Highly unlikely.
Unlikely that it will happen and unlikely that if it did anything would change.

Air races have destroyed entire communities in one fell swoop and they didn't even change the course of the next race.

Accidents happen and it would have to be a very repetitive pattern before it influences anything.

And let's not drag this thread down that old and boring road.
I won't comment again on the safety subject.
Maybe somebody should start a thread for that old debate. Or do a search. Should be hundreds of results.lol...

jitters
your right mckrackin. this thread was not started for everyone to give there opinions on safety, they are respected but that's not what its about. those of us that are serious about the hobby are fully aware of the dangers involved, but people are gonna do what people do. lets just lighten up and have fun with the vids. the world is already uptight enough, we come to these sites to unwind and share a little fun.

Bert's the best. My all time favorite pilot. Kyle and his dad are a close second. So much talent.

Only time I have ran was last year when a guy was ripping a huge GeeBee with a 5 cylinder gas radial. Thing came burning about 4 feet off the deck down the runway. It was fine but in that split second when it was making the turn to scream down the runway my trou browned a bit.

Whatever happened to Johnson's stupid puppet thing? Haven't seen it in forever. Looks like that 15 mins of fame didn't last long at all. LOL

I got a huge kick out of it. Personally, I don't see anything wrong with having fun with the hobby which he was doing. After all... we are grown men flying toy helicopters.
