From Dave D:
There have been some comments on the molded tail. Well, in the quest for a lightweight molded 700 class heli that is as tough and as large (able to swing 715+ size blades) as the 700 XXtreme, I'm told that the FIRST thing Mikado designed and molded was the tail case.

It's got the same internal gears and external parts as the current 700, it just lost all the heavy metal. All the internal and external parts needed was a new supporting structure, less all the heavy metal.

I guess there are a variety of designs and "looks" to achieve a molded case, and I won't second guess what they came up with. But Mikado has been molding parts for a long time, and when it comes to making a molded part lightweight, strong and functional, they usually get it right.

But why the tail first? Because you can't design a lightweight molded frame and get the CG right from the start, unless you know exactly how heavy is the weight hanging way back there on the end of a very long boom. A little weight difference back there changes things quickly up front.

Also, the front tail drive system is essentially the same as the current 700, minus all the heavy metal support structure bolted between the current carbon frames. All that's now molded into the frames.

Considering the machine will still be "large" by 700 standards and still able to swing large discs, it's going to be really light and the disc loading is going to be ridiculously low (-:

The tail drive is the same as the current logo 700XX...which is initially belt driven, and transitions to a tube drive in the tail. A well proven and extremely durable design that they kept from the existing Logo 700.

Nothing special. I still stick with my 700 Xxtreme but will replace its stupid heavy head from 800 xxtreme with this new logo 700 head.

I may go this Logo 700 but will replace its ugly plastic tail box by the Logo 700 Xxtreme CF one if possible.

Awesome to see it finally come together. This (a true plastic framed) Logo 700 is what we've been wanting for a LONG time. If the final production and test flights prove it has that legendary Logo 600 feel to it, I will be building one next winter.

I like the single battery stick approach with new tray release, but guess I'll have to get used to the split batteries on each side. Maybe some find that easier and better for performance characteristics.

liking the molded 700
The new molded 700 looks promising.
Agree with the buster about the ease of use with stick packs
vs brick. Less fumbling for sure.Perhaps we could slide a stick pack in through the molded frame. It would in the molded cocoon.
just my 2 cents

I'm wondering how much it weighs?, and if it has a single battery tray it will make it outstanding heli.
