Hi guys,

A while ago I was talking to some of you about a couple of Royal bodies me and a friend bought, well they were both finished a while ago I must admit, but finally I have got a photo of one of them in my gallery. I originally was going to paint mine yellow but got talked out if it. What do you think of this colour instead? It's a a paint called optical fx and it changes colour in different angles.

Regards,

Mick.

Is that the metallic flecked paint that goes from green to purple, like one of the models of Nissan car is sprayed with. The green is not too bad but not keen on Purple.Depends if you want a colour
for looks or visibility .

Hey Mick, that is one SWEEEEEET upgrade .

I picked up a Royale for mine (s/h) but the previous owner has put in a different tail drive and it won't go onto my SE model - keep meening to get around to ripping it out but it's just sat there. Seeing yours has 'nudged' my memory and I may just get around to it over the holidays

Cheers
Richard.

Thanks Richard, I had to make a couple of parts for the boom myself but they were pretty straight forward. I used the Milli boom and I got the longer torque tube from RCMarket.

The paint goes from that colour purple to a bright gold colour and every so often a rich brown, depends on the sun. I haven't seen any green colour though Martin.

Finally, following a crash of my SE and seeing the fus I've had sitting around too long now I decided it was time to get the two together.

Test flew on Saturday in a whole load of wind, but pleased so far with the results

Cheers
Richard.

That is one sweet looking Royal!!!

It puts my paintjob to shame, I'm thinking about changing mine to the yellow.

Just wait until you get a calm day and see how fast these things move along, grouse rolls and massive loops and autos that go on forever. I had to do my first 3 autos with mine when I was having trouble with my C spec and I had to ask myself why people think that they are so difficult. But then I did a few with my Sceadu and on about the 5th one I found out. I rolled it on its side, but luckily only had a small dint in the boom and had to straighten the flybar a little and was off flying again in 5 minutes.

What did you use for your drive system to the tail Richard?

I left all the original bits in there, just got hold of an old 'SS' style fitting (thanks Footaba) for the mechanics and cut the boom support where it met the bracing and it fitted 100% .

I know the wire drive isn't all that good, but it didn't seem to pose a problem to me in all that wind at the weekend so it looks as though it'll stay there - for now at least.

Looking forward to a calm day to really find out what its capabilities are .

Cheers
Richard.

Normally I';m not big on the colorchange paint...too dark...but you made a nice scheme with it...leave it that way.
