Can someone help me please. I am new to this forum. I have bought some airstar ccpm upgrade frames for my Vario benzin. I have stripped the whole heli down only to find that my standard JR servos to not fit in the screw holes punched into the CCPM frames. I checked with my stock raptor V2 ant the servos fit. Clearly my frames are wrong.
Has anyone had this problem??

Thanks::

Try a Futaba servo just for kicks. I think at one time there was a difference between the JR frames and Futaba frames, but i thought he had modified them so all servos would fit. Just send him an email explaining the problem

Thanks,

I have checked the servos and they are the same length as my futaba 3001's at 48 mm from centre of screw hole to centre of screw hole. The length of the screw holes on the fames are 51 mm. I could drill the new holes but this would mean just drilling over the cut out for the servo body. I would not be happy doing this for structural reasons. The same JR servos that do not fit in to my ccpm frames fit perfectly into the raptor V2 frame.

I am awaiting a call from Airstar/ vario. One theory I have is that these frames MAY be poor copies although I am not sure about this. I did buy them in good faith ofcourse!

Any feedback on this?

It sounds like you have an early set of the CCPM frames. The first set I got (servos vertical) did not fit my JR 4131 servos. I just slotted the holes in the sideframes so the screws would fit. I mounted the servoes with 2.5 mm socket head cap screws, washers and nylon locking nuts. I have had no problems in 4+ years of flying on these frames.
The last set of frames I got (horizontal servos) fit just fine.

Dan,

Thanks for your advice. I tried e-mailing you from the cellmath site as I knew that you used CCPM frames. OK I will try and do what you suggest. Brilliant.

Very poor though that these vertical servo mounths do not fit the JR servos.

Airstar Vario...take a slap on the wrists for this.

Are those current production frames?

I have seen only the horizontal units of late. I recommend you redrill or slot one side only, whichever gives the better fit, then as suggested above, just use bolts with nuts and might I recommend some red loctite too.

Stet,

I think it would appear tht thse are the earlier versins of the CCPM frames. You can get a different type for the benzin mechanics as you mention.#

I will do what you and Dan suggest. I think it is the only way to get round this. I must I am very dissapointed at this poor design fault and very surprised too.

Thanyou all that have helped.
