Is somebody interested by the conversion of Caliber 30 into scale helis?

If so, I carried out a 4 stroke version with an OS52

The advantage:

No noise!!!!!
A very realistic flight
A rotor wich turns at 1500rpm in all conditions (for scale)
Low fuel consumption (with only 15% nitro)

Pictures available via e-mail

Low fuel consumption? In europe, most of pilot, are running with 1% nitro :-)

The pictures are now in my gallery....

The 4 stroke in an heli must normally run with 30% nitro wich is very expensive.

Here I use only 15% but, the engine has a little bit less power.

Also the engine heat is sometime critical. Here it seems to be ok with 1 1/4 opening at the needle. The engine must run between 130 and 150°C More is really critical!!!

It is really necessary to check all the fly condition with a tachometer. The 4 stroke makes no noise so it is really difficult to known if the engine is in overspeed. Here I have +/- 9000-9500 at full throttle at 1480-1500rpm (rotor).

I'm actually busy to try another modification.....to improve the reactivity I'd like to fly at 1600-1650 rpm....but it is not easy with the 0,9HP from a OS52...

We'll see.......
