So I picked up a hummingbird combo at heli-world last night. I got the combo without the TX since I want to use my Futaba 9CHP with it. My 9CHP has a channel 36 RF module in it and Heli-World told me that they have no channel 36 xtals for their receiver and cannot get one. So they gave me a channel 48 xtal instead.

Does anyone know if there are other xtals you can use in the Century 6CH micro receiver? I'd prefer to not shell out another $50 to get a channel 48 RF module for my 9CHP.

If a new 9CHP module is the best option, does anyone know where to get the best price on them?

Thanks!
James

Insist that you need a CH36 crystal, or a receiver that will support your radio. I have the exact same radio as you do and there is no way I would shell out $50 for another module. You can get a very good receiver with crystal for a little bit more.

Well i know for a fact they do not have the ch 36 xtal. I pointed out to their support that they have ch 36 listed for sale on their page; they told me it's a typo and they will be removing it from the page.

I guess my real question is what other brand of xtal I can successfuly use in this RX. I know each company doesn't design and market their own xtals, so someone must re-brand the same OEM part as something else.

Well from what I gather the Century receiver is basically a MPI-6800 receiver. I just found this disclaimer on a site that sells the MPI-6800.
Remark:
This Rx supports all the channels from 11 to 60 except 12, 14, and 36.
Looks like it's time for a new RF module for the 9C.

I suppose most any crystal would work as long as it is a dual or single conversion (not JR) depending on the receiver specs.

What I was getting at with Century (Heli-World) is that if you insist that you need a different receiver and explain why, they might accomodate you or refund you the price of the receiver. Especially since there was a typo on the page.

I think the receiver will need a single conversion crystal. I am sure there are other online suppliers that can get you the crystal you want.
If not call Fred at Fliteline Hobbies in Summerville, SC and he can get them for you. 843-871-8533

I would follow Gazoo's advice. It would be too much of a hassle to change the module in the controller everytime you switch between helis. How about the GWS recievers?

They have a six channel and you could by the reciever for about the same price of a new module.

Well I went ahead and ordered a new TX module for he 9C. I figure it's good to have two of them around anyway. If it's too big of a deal to switch modules all the time I'll just buy a new RX xtal for the sceadu to match the new module as well.
