Hey Guys,

I'm very curious about this subject.. There are different duro-meter of O-rings that can be used with the FAI Tempest head. I would like to understand the advantages and dissadvantages of each.

Thanks

David,

Thank You.. When I converted the R-60 to O-ring dampening I didn't really know what to expect as far as how it would respond under different weather conditions. I wasn't really happy with that jello wiggle. Is this something that can be avoided with stiffer dampening?

What David said..................

and............

The Tempest head and a few other premium contest heads are special in their ability to use the softer O rings while still maintaining excellent stability in the wind and over good control authority. When we were flying the 0848 heads, we ran the dampening as tight as reasonably possible to avoid having the model pitch up in windy conditions. A soft head set up with the 0848 yielded an unacceptable pilot burden in those conditions.

The reason I mention this is so that owners of some other models understand that even if they can source out softer D orings, using them might not give the expected results, especially in the wind and if the goal is keeping the model as still and stable as possible.
