I bought a gws dd motor i like it, the one problem that i had a first was that i had to start all over on flying, its like starting over.

what do i need to do to make the nose heavier? i have the birdseed and etec battery, with the birdseed it is still very tail heavy. the etec.....

the other thing, it runs down my battery fast.
i thiught that the GWS would be on cruise control so to speak, does the GWS take a lot more power to run?

thanks for the input

I had the same problem. I cut an inch off the boom, removed the stock mount for the tail motor, CA'd a 1" piece of CF tube, slightly larger than the boom, perpendicular to the boom by drilling a hole on one side and sliding the boom in partway, running the wires out the side and then cable tying on the motor to the 1" piece. I also drilled a hole in the bottom of the new piece for the CF rod rotor protector and CA's it in place with the vertical wing taped to it as stock. It works perfectly.

I also removed the boom supports and made a small platform on the front and moved all the radio gear onto that platform. It then would balance easily with the birdseed. I then switched to a 2-cell lipo and had to hang them vertically off the front to get it to balance. Now I have a 3-cell lipo and it is strapped under the front platform and balances fine.

Here's a picture of the tail without the motor strapped on:

Bill,

I am also using the 3cell Lypo and just started this project of going seperates. All is good except I am waiting for New tail motor. At first stock setup with 3 cell no problem but now with seperates I fried the tail motor, no big deal, then another crap electric motor fried, no big deal, but when I get my edp50 are you guys running 3cell regulating the volts down?

Any help would be great.

Mike

Regulating

Hi Mike,

I'm using that tail motor with my 3-cell. I have only about an hour on it, but so far no issues. I have a heat sink of course, but it doesn't even get very warm so I don't think you'll have any trouble running it unregulated.
