Hello !

Can I use a YS 91 without any problems in this heli ? I saw that it is lay out for an 80 engine is that correct ? So could I nevertheless put in the YS91 ?

greetings

Yes, it is perfect for your YS. The 1021-5 is the 8.45:1 ratio kit and requires no modification for your 91.

The 1020-5 kit is the 8:18:1 kit and is recommended by MA for the OS engine. Some have used that kit for their YS with good results especially with the MP 2 pipe that seems to operate better at a slightly lower rpm than say the Hatori SB-16.

Okay but you think the YS91 with the 8.45 ratio is very good to use ? Do many pilots use that ratio with that engine do you know that ?

Well, me for one. and it's a very good combo. When I ordered my kit I called MA and that is the ratio that Tim recommended. There are only three other Extremes in our group and they all have OS engines and are using the 8:18 ratio except one and he's all the way down to 7:something.

Perfect ! It sounds the heli is getting a really good one ! What blades could you suggest for that heli ? 690mm 700mm 720mm ? And where´s the difference between the plates concerning the flying behaviour ?

I'm using 700mm but I think my next set will be 710s or 720s and drop my headspeed a little to extend flight time a little. I'm not sure what you mean by "plates". David is right about 1800 being about the max rotor rpm with 8:45 ratio but that's more than enough with a 90 size machine. If you are using a MP 2 1750 is better.
