config?

what config are you running on your hornets? Have you added any upgrades? I'm thinking of getting the nylon and brass ball socket for the swash plate

How did you paint the canopy?

Cheers

Only have the first one built and it is as follows:

Razor V2 Micro Heli Brushless
Etec 3 cell 1200mAh lipo
CC Phoenix 10 (fixed throttle not governor mode)

The rest of the hornet is stock. It flies awesome stock. I was thinking about getting a lot of upgrades before flying it. Now that I have flown it and I see how well it flies almost stock I won't upgrade anything yet. I am going to fly the pants off it over the next 2 weeks.

I am having my canopy painted by an artist who does rc car bodies. He does excellent work. When I receive the painted canopies back I will cut them out of the molds and stick them together with some 3m adhesive. This was recommended by Walt Ferar or John K on John K's hornet tips site. I have also heard some people are cutting the canopies to make it thinner so it stays on better. There are some tips on John K's site which show how to attach some mounts to it to make it stay on better.

Hey Brendin
Did you put the ball in the swash plate or do you think it flys OK with out it

I have one coming for Christmas and I want to make sure I have all the items I need to get it togather very quickly
I also plan on putting a Hacker B20-22s, will that be OK for a motor
I still need to get the lipos for the LHS
If there is anything else that I need please let me know
Thanks
David

It flys fine without it. It is trimmed now so I can fly it hands off. I would be interested in putting the ball in smash mod on the other one. I am keeping one relatively stock and hopping up the other. This way I can compare the difference a mod makes. Where can I get the ball in swash mod from?

That motor should be fine. If you run 3 cell lip use a 10 tooth pinion. 11 tooth would probably work too.

If you don't mind me asking...What was your total cost and where did you order from? Also a list of what gear you got would be great. Thanks

Hornet 2 kit - $215 (all prices US)
Razor Brushless Micro Heli V2 motor - $85
Castle Creations Phoenix 10 esc - $59
3 cell etech lipo pack 2 @ $36
Hitec Electron 6 Receiver - $50
Hitec HS 50 Servo 4 @ @$28 = $112
Futaba GY 401 AVCS Gyro - $140

You could probably put a Cenutry Hawk Sport together for less

Xnaron-

Thanks for taking the time to post your results! Ive been very interested in this new hornet...I had a bad experience with the first one (that darn tail), but like the CP head better than ikarus's...my current setup is a pic with motorized tail and horet CP upgrade. Flies nice but seems to be very pitchy......

How does the new HII fly compared to the Pic Pro, or old hornet cp (or anyother micro you may have experience with).

Thanks!

Scott

ps i would think the himax 2015 4100 would be another brushless option...

I assembled mine stock. It has no vibrations! The tail is rock solid. I don't think you can compare it to other micro heil's it is just that good!

I used some double sided foam tape made especially for mounting servos. It seems to hold very well so far. I used medium ca to glue the boom supports to the holder. They are holding very well. I painted the canopy BEFORE cutting it out. I masked off the windshield and spray painted it with black PACTRA paint. Then I removed the mask and painted the rest of the canopy with white PACTRA paint. I painted the inside of the canopy.

Thanks

Cheers - I went for a hunt today to fine some double sided tape but the only stuff I found was rated to 17g....not really suitable. I was thinking of heat shrinking the boom supports to make them fit tighter in the horizontal fin holder. Where did you pick up your razor from? I'm still trying to source one. Bishop power products have gone offline for the last week or so - so I'm a bit in the dark about the status of getting one.

Did you spray or paint with a brush?

Cheers

I don't want to say yes because I haven't tried it BUT according to the specs it looks like it should be more that strong enough.

Yup the one pictured is wronf... thats how I had mine setup originally. The instructions show it the other way. If you do it that way you won't be able to tighten the blades unless you put the screws in from the bottom. Follow the pictures in the instructions. The picture above is opposite to what is shown in the instructions.

Ninja 95 - I sprayed my canopy. Masked off the window and sprayed it black. Removed the mask when dry and sprayed the rest white.
