Im putting together a buddys new 50 and the the starter shaft takes some force to twist it ,it's real tight.Have any of you had this prob?I loosend the moter and the mout but still tight,installed the mast and it to feels tighter than it should be,does it just need to be ran?

Does not sound right Dave. The start shaft will turn backwards, with the use of two fingers, when everything is correct and lined up. Did you put the #18 thrust washer between the clutch bell inner bearing, and the snap ring/e-clip on the start shaft? Is the clutch/ liner done correctly? Do you have the fan screwed down against the front bearing of the motor, with nothing in between?

Check if you have the washer between the engine and fan mounte. If you have, put it away.
Also check that the maingear isn't upside down.
