I've got a hornet, but i didnt bother upgrading it as it seems to fly nicely without doing any big £££'s spending on it, its still FP and only using hs50's but i did put walts a/r arm and tail pitch slider and mast collar on, other than that it is flying very nicely and has over 50 hours flying time loggged now mostly indoors in my living room

If you wanna talk hornets you are probably better off over here http://www.hornet-heli.com/cgi-bin/...b.cgi?ubb=forum;f=3

I hate to list everything I have because I start thinking about the $$$!

Just before anyone thinks you need all the upgrades, you don't, it flies great out of the box. This is 2+ years of 'upgrade' opportunities, and sometimes just a chance to indulge myself and try a new part.

Soon to have that tail hub with the thrust bearings, and maby the head that had the thrust bearings, I don't know the head speed but it is up there and can only imagine the thrust bearings making it even smoother, but yea she is new to me, I just got her, but she is getting there, I just can't get the tail to stop the wag, I get it down to 15% in either mode but that is not enough, and it still will get into wag ever once and a while, , I even put some boom braces on thinking the body is no stiff enough? but who knows, maby it is my over speeding tail binding, I can get some more grease in it and see what happens.

Hi Chad,

Wait till you get that new tail rotor before you even bother messing with it, it should increase your gain to 20+ without wag.

Note: Walt mentioned the 401 runs a lower gain because of it's higher rate then the 240.

SO I guess that tail unit is worth it. I have been out of the information loop for a while. Crasher did you get you piccolo sold? I am shure you did, I talked to a guy that said you were getting pretty low with it, Man if you let it go as low as he was talking, someone got a DEAL, this hornet is pretty nice it just screams, But I really need to fly one of those little piccolo pros so I can see the other side. I hear way to much nice stuff about them, but this new hornet II is really getting some nice reviews, I probally pick up one of the new frames and throw all my upgrades on it, I also have a razor 2500 anyone know if it is stronger than the hacker 20-26s I am running,? Maby this thing will never bog with the bigger motor,?

Chad
P.S. disreagard my spelling and typos I suck at typing and my spelling doesn't help anything, sorry

Hey Chad,

Yeah I ended up letting her go for $475. Was in great flying order, I couldn't have done any better. I just ordered a Hornet 2 so we'll see how that goes, I'm gonna try the Himax 2025 with 4166kv, can't really go wrong for $59

If you do decide to upgrade your V1 to a V2(would probably be a good idea) I'd get the blades and boom, that seems to be the only diffrence from yours to a V2. Few other nice things about the V2 though are the bolt together landing gear, frame clamp for the boom and tail gearbox clamp to secure it to the boom. Much more like a real helicopter making it easier to repair.

Btw, the 2500 should work, maybe use an 11-12t pinion.

I think i'm going to have to save up for the s&s tail rotor. My hornet II has almost no vibration without the tail on. But with the tail it vibrates more. The tail blades are blanced, but i think i there's a little play where the blade holders pivot.. I think the vibration without the tail is coming from my himax 2015 4100.

Crasher - The S&S tail rotor is awesome. Mine is rock solid as well. I was able to turn the gyro gain way up. If you only buy one mod for the Hornet 2 this should be it!
