KC,

Are you jerking my chain, or are you hoping that they start using this tail box? Why?

nivlek,

In the spirit of "The US and the UK are separated by a common language", I am amazed at your insight! You are right!!!!

KC,

You just described a great heli! The tail is the weakest link!

vitek,

What's wrong with that tailbox? Just a little beefing up and it's good to go!

really what is the advantage to this exposed tail box?
With the current MA setup, you have no idea what is going on inside that little black box. With this setup, you can see the gears. You know when the mesh is bad, and when the gears are worn.

Keeping grime out of those gears would be very difficult. Also using metal tail gears becomes a problem, because whatever grease you put on them ends up in the next county. I believe that Bergen originally used metal gears, but transitioned to the delrin ones because of this problem.

KC,

I'm not interested in that open tail assembly. I like the little black box. Build it [correctly], lube it and forget it.

I don't know if you remember me, but we met at Tri-Cities earlier this year. I was the guy standing there when the caterer and her friend kept calling you Chandler.
