Ok so I'm about to head over to Century and pick up an HB kit from them, but of course I have a few questions for everyone

1. I have a Futaba 9CHP for my Sceadu .30 and I'm curious if it will work with the Century 6CH RX they list as part of their kit. Will the channel mappings be the same or will the 9CHP sticks not hit the right channels on the Century RX?

2. Everyone seems to say the charger in the kit is no good. I have an old Tekin charger from back in my RC-Car days (6 cell packs) which I'm curious if I can use to charge the birdseed packs. It has a digital readout and lets me adjust the charging amperage, within a certain range. Any idea what rate these packs should be hit with on a charger like that?

3. Is it worth replacing the Century gyro with a GY401? I have one on my sceadu and have been happy with it, and would buy another if they have proven to work well with the stock hummingboard controller.

Thanks in advance guys!

Also chime in if you have any suggestions on how to make this a decent indoor hover practice machine without breaking the bank.

I have no idea if your Futaba Tx will work. I would say yes provided your Rx and crystals match.

The charger that comes with the kit will work fine for now.

Gyro: I don't know about GY401, but I know a GY240 works great with a "hummingboard without the built in Gyro". I run one myself.

If your going to be serious about owning a Hummingbird, then I suggest this:

Buy just the basic kit and peice everything together.

1. Use the transmitter you have and purchase a Rx that will work with it

2. Buy all other good electronics (Servo's, Rx, HH Gyro, LiPo Batts and charger) Now that I have 2 Cell E-tech LiPo Batteries, I will never use my Birdseed Batteries again!

3. Buy the extras like Hornet CF Blades, Acro 280BB 6V Motor, Swashball mod, Collar Mod, heatsinks for motors, Micro Antenna.

4. Lots of Hovering Practice indoors!

All of this stuff can be purchased at http://www.helihobby.com

I made the mistake of buying the complete kit and now wished I had just peiced everything together. It would have been cheaper in the long run.

I think the birdseed battery makes an exceptional paper weight. I don't blame you for wanting to keep them

Hey cmon now

Birdseeds are my poor man's lipo. I have 6 packs. I charge two at a time, for a total of 3 hours charge time. That gives me a solid 36 minutes of flight time if I wanted. That's not too bad...

Wanna trade some paperweights
