I was flying today and motor seemed to richen up, so I landed to see what was up. Heli settled down, but throttle would not return to idle. I tried throttle cut... nothing happened, I walked over and noticed my voltwatch flashing from amber to red , needless to say I became a little worried. I managed to get the fuel line loose with a broken V blade... I know that was not too safe, but I did not know what else to do. I got the bird and a friend noticed the throttle was stiff. I unsnapped ball link and throttle would barely move. We checked to make sure stop screw was there and it was. He moved it a couple of times and it freed up. My question is, What could cause that other than trash, carb seemed to be clean?

The engine has been performing flawlessly till now. I am a little scared of it now.

same thing happened to me

The exact same thing happened to me on my TT39. It was caused by a loosened throttle barrel stop screw.
The screw loosened during flight, the barrel started to work its way out of the throttle housing then the screw vibrated in the tightening direction to lock up the barrel.
Got the rappy down to the ground with the engine running at about 1/2 throttle. I had to crawl under the spinning rotor to pull the fuel line.

I unscrewed the stop screw, properly positioned the throttle barrel and retightened the screw. Everthing was fine after that.
The engine was new when this happened. It had about 2 or 3 tanks thru it.

I have the TT39 in a V2 and had the same problem... Flying around, tried to land it, thought I was still in Idle up(wasn't), tried throttle hold and cut, etc. I had only about a 1/4 tank left and it was running about half throttle(regardless of throttle stick position). I held in a little negative to keep it in one place and let it run out of fuel.
I inspected it when the engine stopped and found the carb barrel retaining screw had come out about halfway. This allowed the barrel to get jammed about half way out. It was obvious as soon as I saw it, so this may or may not be your problem.
I pulled the engine out real quick and reassembled the carb. Went right back out and flew it again. Now I include a visual inspection of this screw as part of my preflight.
