hey, im the worlds worst at boom strikes happening but instead of buying a new boom every time i came up with this idea and it works great.get a pool stick and put the end with the tip into your boom first and force it all the way through, this will pop the dents right out of the boom.

it only works if the boom is not hurt bad. if its wrinkled or cut you gotta buy another one but for those little tail boom dents this is great.

As long as you don't damage it any more when popping out the dent. My experience has been that bent metal tubes don't return to their previous form very easily, and if I do manage to straighten it, it still has a weak spot where the bend was. Booms are cheap anyway, so I wouldn't risk your heli for one...

Gidday

I use well oiled tube sockets in a well oiled boom gradually working my way up to one that I turned to fit sweetly in the boom.

Used this system several times successfully.

I think that straightening a boom out would only be recommended for a belt drive tail (eg , the 30 / 50 ) machines.

Personally , I have been able to fly a Rap30 with a badly bent boom since the belt is very hardy.

I would NOT recommend straightening out a 60/90 boom due to the torque tube drive system that they have. The TTube really needs a perfectly true base to work without binding , at the speeds that the TTube turns , any binding will have disastrous consequences , me thinks.

BTW , I am talking through my ass here since I haven't any personal knowledge...............

Hi
I always glue a sleeve made from an other peace of boom over the straightened area. The result is very stable.
