Is it possible to have an operational crane hook on a chopper that picks stuff up? Is it possible to have a chopper that launches fake missles?

Please respond. If you have pics, add them. This what i eventually want to be able to do.

the answer to both questions is yes, vario has a working winch but i am not sure how much of a load it can handel. rockets are another story.
the ama will not allow anything launched from a model but if you are not flying at an ama field and don't care if you are not covered if anything happens then use model rockets.

Not making any accusations here, but there have been several new people popping up asking this question about model helis and rockets, then dissapearing. Some people have thought this to be a bit suspicious, even terrorism related.

You're new here too. I'm not saying you're a terroritst, but maybe this gives you an idea of how dangerous your idea is...

The winch thing would be cool on a scale heli to lift fake cargo, but you're not gonna be doing any heavy lifting with a Raptor.

Vario has sold these for years... They are pre made, just slap them on the bottom
of your heli and you are good to go. Below is a a cut and paste copy from Vario's
web site. And below that are some photos from an outstanding Vario BK117
with a working electric winch. -Steve

The rocket launcher is a unique VARIO development, and provides the means of
fitting out your AIRWOLF or other helicopter with a working rocket system.
The three firing pins are set beforehand, then a separate servo is used to actuate
them in sequence. A 6 mm explosive cartridge then fires a small mortar,
wailer or Light cartridge. The rocket launcher is made of aluminum, and is
fitted with three hardened firing pins. It is supplied ready to install, but without
the explosive parts. Persons of 18 years or older can obtain these in any
sporting gun shop.

Whenever someone finds out I fly heli, the first question they always ask is if I can fire missles from it. The next question is if I can drop bombs from it. I think these are just popular questions for those new to rc helicopters.

Dangerous? more dangerous to you and bystanders... terrorist weapon?.....come on!

It would be more accurate and easier to put something in a mortar or grenade launcher than to launch it from a remote heli.... even the terrorists don't want to use something so complicated and likely to fail. It would be easier to simply load your cargo (2lbs MAX?) on the heli and 911 it into the target. A missile would be so small as to be a joke - the heli itself is more dangerous, and impossible (without military scale electronics) to be accurate, and you'd still have to fly within your line of sight to launch! BE REAL!

its as sure as sh!t whenever you fly in the presence of, well, people.

I have a picture of a turbine jet airplane fireing a couple of those Vario rockets while flying, it looks kewl. Let me know if anyone wants me to e-mail it to them, because I can't put the picture up here for everyone to see. Maybe I can send the picture to someone that can post it here? Let me know if you can.

Take Care,
Cheers, Patrick

I could not tell either...

it took the second pic with the bubble wrap and garage door to confirm that that was not a real heli... very very fine job.

as for the rockets
