I'm thinking about using a HobbyWing Platinum Pro V3 50A ESC in my Goblin 380.

I will be using the 900kV Scorpion motor and the specs on it are 28A continuous and 43A peak. The HobbyWing is rated at 50A continuous and 75A peak (for 10 sec). So, on paper, this looks to be the perfect match-up. Anyone else running this combo or can add any info?

I have the same ESC in my Gaui X3 with the 1880kV Scorpion motor rated at 38A continuous and 50A peak and it seems to work fine so I'm sure it will work in the 380 also but want to make sure.

Thanks.

That's the ESC that I'm using with the KDE500XF-925G3. That motor says it's rated for 58A continuous and 83A peak and I haven't had any issues at all. I've even run it with a 24T pinion at 3700rpm head speed and beat the crap out of it and it ran like a champ.

Awesome! Thanks!

So, I could probably go ahead and run the Scorpion 1000kV motor rated at 45A cont./70A peak then. I wish HobbyWing made a 75A ESC. The 100A just seems WAY too overkill here.

This would give me maximum headroom and I could always go with a 19 or 20 tooth pinion if the stock 21 is too much.

Yeah, I agree. I would probably feel a bit more comfortable with a 70A ESC but, like I said, I haven't had any problems so far and I have just over 80 flights on mine right now. It comes down pretty cool, as does the motor. The governor is actually pretty decent, too.

I'm running the HW50 Platinum too and love it
I'm running the Quantum motor, and at full 13 degrees pitch, 3100 RPM's, I'm only peaking at 48 amps. Hovering is a measly 11 to 15 amps.
Since it can handle spikes much higher, I dont see why you would have any problems with the scorpion motors on it

I like it a lot. At 3700rpm and 13.5° pitch, it was just nuts! I don't know what you'd have to do bog it, but that wasn't it.

I am going to run the HobbyWing 100A ESC. The Pulse 1800mAh 45C batteries I got came with EC3 connectors already installed from the factory so I assume that means they think they can handle the maximum current flow.

My question is: Should I remove them and use EC5 instead? The EC3 is rated at 60A continuous although I have no idea what the maximum is.

i think the quick release uses the ec3 too.
i prefer castle bullets but i plan to use the quick release n battery trays so i think i stick with the ec3 unless i can drill and mount cc4.0 which are rated to 75 amps. the 5.5 are rated to 150 amps

I was considering using the quick connect as well. This will mean shortening the main power leads on my Talon 90. Is this ok to do? I feel like it's a dumb question, but gonna ask it anyways

Yup that is correct. Going shorter is ok so is longer but you must use caps for castle creations. Remember the wires on hex n quads are long. The wires on the kde escs are a mile long but not sure if they recommend cap I think they are tuned for the long wires ?? Any how going short is a ok

Btw how is ur balance with the talon ?? I was gonna run a cc ice2 120 HV but was told it was to much so I was gonna run the edge lite 100 ?? Was size packs u running ?

Not gonna lie, it's heavier than I would like, I've moved it as far back in the frame as I could, with the motor connections facing front. This way the power leads would face rearward and I could modify them for the quick connect system. Still waiting on a few components so it's not functional yet, but I plan on using pulse 1800's
