I have been trying to do rolling circles on a sim for some time now. I am pretty sure that most people use the tail to turn the heli in a cirlce. Why don't people use foward, back cylcic to make it go in a circle. It makes more sense to me.

When I use the rudder it gets wobbly half way through. I try to correct it with cyclic, but it gets even worse. Maybe I just have to work on my timing.

I used to use the tail for steering, and now I'm using the cyclics. Using the cyclics is the best method but takes more time to master. Using the cyclics you can then go for loops while rolling.

I consider using both, cyclics and tail, at the same time really challenging.

You need to use both, _especially_ when you start trying to do them backwards, or rolling to the outside going forwards.

I guess if you didn't fly in HH, you could do forward ones either way without the tail, but I've never tried it that way.

I do them forward and backward without the use of the tail and it do just fine. I'll try using also the tail and see what happens. And I do rolling 8's by steering the heli with and against the rolling direction. Its just requires the proper cyclic timing.

Applying cyclics along the knifedge portion doesn't requires any tail input.

Thank you very much.

I must be doing something wrong then, because I cannot do a clean rolling circle or 8 without using the rudder and cyclics both.

Maybe that is what I should've said in the first place.

I think I got too used to the rudder and using cyclic to correct it a little. I guess everyone has their own way to do it. Everything at once seems too tireing. If you use half the controls it should end up in a cirlce anyway, but it should make a wider circle.

I recently made a recording in realflight and found that my piro rate wasn't centered where I lost control. My springs are way loose on the controller so I attached the interface to my 8103 and it seems to be a little better.

You can even do rolling circles without tail at all, both forward and backward. Timing is a lot more critical though, a little off and the heli jumps up or down.
