Did I make a mistake removing the webbing on my OS50?

I had my 50 apart the other day and took the Dremel to the webbing.
The next day I took my OS32 apart and found that it too has webbing on the crank !

I have over 100 hours on that little 32 and the bearings are stil very smooth and tight. if the webbing is affecting the 50, why doesn't it affect the 32 as well???

I did not have any issues with the 50 either before the operation,
I now wonder if I will have to order a new crank(with webbing)

BTW All the best for the New Year.

but the material is not being removed quite right
Without seeing a pic of the cranks your describing Propilot I'm not sure of what you mean. Are the turboing the crank? The mod that I performed has been used by others mostly to save the crank bearings from rusting. Not so much as a performance boost even though I flew mine for the first time today since the mod and it seemed very smooth. There were some fliers asking for pics of the mod. I'm sure there are many ways of doing the mod but I just snapped some shots as I went along in the way that felt comfortable to me.

One thing I noticed by making the multiple dremmel cuts in the webbing first really saved the wear and tear on my dremmel bit. I had no wear on the bit until I got down below the cuts made by the dremmel cut off wheel. Then the bit started to grove as I continued grinding. If you can post some pics of the right way to do it I'm interested in seeing what you’re describing.

cpheli, the OS 32 is not effected by the balance issue, that the larger motors are subjected to. The combination of the web/balance is what causes the bearing's demise.

Got my non-webbed 50 back from Hobby services and yes, it was an 50 sx airplane crank they had put in. It's hard to get mad at them though as they Fedex'd it back in less than two weeks during christmas.

They also threw in another set of bearings as they said they were worn again.
