it that were true then the doors would go back once the vasiline is cleaned off before delivery....you dont leave vasiline on a $30000 restoration .......i have been restoring cars for over 40 years and i do know what i am talking about on old cars. letting a rubber slide due to less friction will not reduce the amount of pressurer that new rubber has kicking the door out making it hard to close.
dont belive me....put graphite power on same rubber for as long as you like it wont help wirh the pressure on the door when closing it.
it has to due with the rubber getting softer because the petroulm jelly has penatrated into the rubber over night and allowes rubber to crush with more ease and form to the contors of the door and body......not slip and slid as you think.
didnt you rub vasiline in to your rubbers back in the 70s
