I`m using the standard MX 600 motor in my Trex 550 together with Turnigys 5800 mAh 25-35C batteries. It flies fine but I miss the “pop” in it. With the “pop” I mean that when I lowering it down from high altitude I usually want to take it down pretty fast and the quickly hit the collective pitch to get it to stop immediately (hence the pop in the blades) I do this all the time with my Trex 600N and it stops immediately but my 550 reacts really slowly when trying to achieve these hard stops. My first reaction was that it could be the batteries but yesterday I tried my friends Gensace 5000 mAh 40C batteries without any major difference.

Could it be any setting in the BeastX that can cause this (note that is is really quick when it comes to flips and rolls and also when performing tic tocs etc…..)

Thanks!

Typically stopping power or "pop" as you're describing it is just pitch to weight .. how much pitch do you have dialed in (via a pitch guage)?

Also, 550's tend to be heavy for their disc size so you can't expect the same kind of "pop" you would from larger disc, smaller blades so it grabs less air.

did it ever have pop in it, or is this a new issue?

I have roughly 12 degrees + and minus in pitch.

I bought this heli used one month ago and it has been like this ever since.

12 degrees isn't enough for a 550 (assuming 550mm blades), at least to get that "pop" you want, you need 14-15. Be sure your ESC is up to it or you'll "pop" it lol.

There are lots of factors (and personal preferences) but this is ballpark pitch and rpm settings for "pop" on electrics:

700 12.5-13.5 @ 1950-2150rpm
600 13-14 @ 2150-2350rpm
550 14-15 @ 2350-2550rpm

The smaller the blade the more pitch you need to get a similar feel.

Ok, thanks!

I will try to add another degree or two and see what happens (hopefully I will not pop my ESC )

To be perfectly honest with you I don`t know. I use a 16T pinion on the MX 600 1220kv engine and the internal governor in my ESC (YEP 100A) and I have the TC at 83% straight across. My guess is that I am around 2200 rpm during the flight.

Ok your HS will top out at around 2550 average at 100% throttle, that is the HS you want for the stock 520 blades so run 100% flat line in IU2. If you have the 550 blades you can still run 100% throttle but your flight times might suffer so go for 90% flat or a shallow V e.g. 95-92-90-92-95 for a bit more consistancy.

I would definitely dial in 13 degrees of pitch instead of 12 on a 550 and the BeastX has a pitch boost function (parameter H), start off low and increase it if needed but up the pitch and HS first. If you go too high on the Pitch Boost it can have the opposite effect.

60% of the time, it works every time!

Can I run 100% when using GOV mode? I thought the GOV needed some headroom?
