I have been working on this for the last week. The new OS gas motor with a new carburetor and external pump that fits in a standard 90 size fan shroud very well. Hoping to test run the motor in the next day or so. I have additional construction photos that I will post very soon.

I have the NEX with a YS 60 in it,Great flying heli,flys more like a bigger heli with Edge 623 blades. It autos great too....

Brilliant !
Ive always followed very closely those 50 size airframe mods to accomodate the OS GT 15...
First there was bobby watts with his MA Fury.
Lately OS came out with a conversion kit for trex
And now you my friend, took the plunge with no less than the King of the 50 size category : JR 50 Vibes NEX
yes please share with us more insight on the build and what modifications are necessary.
Really eager to hear how it flies too!

Things to note on the conversion; I am using the mount from a Vibe 90 not the supplied 50 unit which requires minor slotting of the frames for the through bolts. I used the Align shroud and a modified 700 size fan. Since then I ordered a Synergy 700 shroud and fan for evaluation. It might be easier to adapt but I'm not sure about the amount of frame material relief necessary on the rear with its larger radius. I trimmed in front of the shroud more than necessary by taking off about 5 millimeters, it doesn't take that much. As I have already mentioned the lower plate needs the opening enlarged just a bit to let the motor slide in from the bottom. The shroud halves bolt up from the sides, rough but functional. It looks like the temps are hanging in the 190 to 200 range after a 5 minute hover. The temperature should be okay with no over heating.

Hi Richard. Don White from Palomar RC Flyers. Where were you able to get that motor? One of our heli pilots has the early motor in a 700 Align. He is very interested in this motor to put in a 600. Good to see you at the SD funfly. Maybe you could come fly your Vibe 50 this with us.

Hoping to get more time on the motor and I will come up and fly with you.

OS Engines also makes the frame set that is used to convert the 600 Align, I just got the dremel out and made my own, so far it is working well.

We got a few tanks through the little gasser today and it is looking good so far, seems to have enough power without getting too hot.

So far I have had a great experience with this motor and pipe combination. I have been very busy at work and haven't bee able to fly much and this keeps me from posting a long term report. It has enough power to fly just about any way you want it too after the break-in period which is very long! I have heard there are teething issues for some, so check the gasser forums for the latest information.
