I like to window shop on Ebay and this caught my eye. Does any one know what model it is and if it looks in decent shape?

Its an Old Xcell 1005 gasser.

with the "buy now" price set to $750 my guess is that his reserve price is around $600.

I would not buy it, this seller obviously does not speak the lingo and therefore probably cannot verify that the heli is flightworthy, nor answer any specific questions. No vid of it flying, your probably looking at a doorstop or decor item.

showing a preference will only get you into trouble, 90% of everything is crap...

It a original Xcell 1005 gasser, pretty much stock except they do have the elev. push pull upgrade,
probably looking at a doorstop or decor item.
Come on man, a doorstop?? Really,, I guess you have never flown or owned a 1005, Work horse, Once you get it setup, Fly, and Fly, and Fly, Raja, and myself have been flying one for many years, I own 5 or 6 of them, I agree that the price is a little high, but a really clean, nice looking heli in my humble opinion!! Looks good ,,and expensive. If it is a old Zenoah 23 not the 231 you will have to upgrade if for performance. The old 23's tend to over heat and not much power. Actually I'm taking my 1005 out now for a few flights! Mine ain't no door stop!!

Setup is everything, All my heli's can fly far better than I can pilot them

Thanks for the info guys. Yes- I agree its pricey for what it is, I just like keeping my eyes open for a good deal. RM3- I always like to guess on their reserve price without bidding. I was thinking $500 is probably where he's at on this one. As far as door stops are concerned, I have several nitro-birds that fill that need now

c'mon guys, ..."doorstop" is in reference to the fact that you don't know what your getting, ie, is it broken?, are the electronics working?, quality of them, engine in what condition? how long has it been sitting,

nothing to do with brand.

BTW, got a Radikal thats fixin to be a doorstop...

I knew what you meant RM3. But if it has the 23 not 231 it most likely will be an expensive door stop till he drops more into it.
Jack332 keep looking if you want a 1005 . I just bought a 1005 airframe here on RR for 200 bucks with engine. I wanted backup parts. But the engine was the 23 also.

Setup is everything, All my heli's can fly far better than I can pilot them

Im not really looking specifically for that one, but being a gasser it caught my eye. The one you bought sounds more realistic on what price I was thinking. I think ill watch the auction and see where it goes. Thanks for the tips!

Parts for the 1005 are going to be tougher I would think than parts for the Spectra. If I wasn't in deep with Min Air for so long I would consider another route where parts are still readily available,,like a Align nitro conversion. I hear great things about them.

I hear you on the being in deep with one brand, im at 7 Raptors now. I really like my Helibug converted Raptors. They fly well and parts are readily available. I would, however, like to purchase a gas specific manufactured Kit in the future. Hopefully we will see some new offerings soon.

That guy that recently had all the posts (and crash unfortunately) after he bought the Predator gasser would probably be interested in the parts.
