Flew mine today, no big issues. Cyclic a little slower than before, will work on adjusting to speed it up. It did reverse my gyro during install, that was a fun treat when I spooled it up. All else was fine. No issues...

Mine seemed to be drifting slightly at lower head speeds to the left and then the rear but the last two days I flew it, it is gone. I was going to go back to 4.0 but my computer antivirus software wouldn't let me install it so I'm leaving 5.0 for now.

Does anyone know what could be adjusted to help with porpousing? I'm not sure what to adjust that might help with that issue. Maybe the two dials on the unit?

Iflyrc..what were the problems you were having?

Toad -- the two pots on top are the Elevator and Elevator gain controls. If the heli oscillates on an elevator or aileron command, turn the gains down a bit. Or you could turn them UP until the oscillation starts, then back off a bit. Similar to setting the gain on a heading hold gyro.

Explain the porpoising thing...what is happening? What is your Cyclic Pitch Dampening value set at?

my "problems"
WOW where do I begin, its like I was chasing the adjustments all over, I get the swash level in in the DIR mode, then proceed from there... BUT to be honest IF I knew what my problems were.. I think I would have gotten it but it seemed like one thing led to another, and I just got VERY frustrated with it .. I will Try again sometime in the future.. I don't have anyone near me that can offer hands on help.. so I just struggle through...

Thanks !

Cyclic pitch dampening is set at 0. That is where they recommend it I think. The dials on the 3gx are set at around 10 o'clock position. Should I add some cyclic pitch dampening? I guess I might as well try adding some. I'm going to bump it up to 20 tonight since I have it plugged into the heli right now and see how it does next time I fly. Does that sound better? Dave.

I might not be calling it the right thing when I say porpoising or might not be spelled right either. I mean kind of like a dolphin jumping in and out of water. Up and down. It just seems to pitch up and down when I am in fast forward flight with full up on the pitch stick. And when I go to make a turn and pull back on the stick it is very sensitive and I think it is related to the elevator wobble in fast forward flight. It did this on version 4 for me as well but I'm guessing I just need to make some change in some setting.

Do the DIR setup which bypasses all gyro functionality and gets all the mechanical aspects set up correctly. Perform the next set of steps to teach the 3GX its aileron and elevator limits, which kind of swash control you have (standard or CCPM), as well as setting the elevator and aileron gyros to move the servos in the proper direction.

When you have finished that initial setup step, the tail rotor gyro can pretty much have all of its settings set from the PC program.

You will also have to perform the throttle/pitch governor calibration step, even if you don't use the governor.

There are more things you can set from the PC than there are that can be set from the transmitter stick movement.

And yes, the "write" function stores the current PC setup values in the 3GX unit.

There is a cyclic expo setting for the 3GX. Disable it (set to zero) then use your TX expo settings.

Have an odd issue with V5 on my X7. When switching to high head speed the elevator servo does it's own thing causing the heli to tilt forward. It i switch back to low speed it will hover hands free (almost). I've upgrade my 3 units, the 480 and 550E behave as expected no matter what head speed. The problem is only with the X7. Any ideas?

Sounds as if you have some vibration at high head speeds getting to the sensors. How is the 3GX mounted?

What position are the two gain pots set to?
