Today I was going to try out the TX mode and after setting up the unit to this mode I was going to add expo and some dual rates to ail,ele and rud. However eventtouh I reduced the dual rates to 50% nothing happended with the servo throws. It was not until I was down to 20% that the servo throws were getting smaller.

Why is it like this? I am using a Futaba T8J.

Thanks!

You don't adjust servo throws on your transmitter with the BeastX/AR7200BX except for tweaking total collective. Your inputs are more like a rate command (degrees per second) that the flybarless unit tries to achieve by whatever servo throws it needs.

It will still use maximum cyclic pitch on the bench and it will continue doing so until it sees a rotation of the heli. Think of it like your tail, you set the piro rate you desire using rudder dual rates in your TX yet you will still be able to move the rudder from limit to limit on the ground. As John said, when you adjust the dual rates for a particular axis you are telling the gyro how fast to rotate on that axis (degrees per second), NOT how much pitch to use, the gyro will decide how much pitch is required and it will vary according to numerous different things e.g. wind, wind direction, blade weight, head speed, heli weight etc etc.

Keeping the D/R's at 100 and adding around 20% expo will be a good starting point in TX mode, don't worry it will still be fairly tame with those settings.

60% of the time, it works every time!
