I was flying on Sunday and my Predator began surging up and down causing the tail to wag significantly. I was just sport flying and the surging occurred when bringing it into a hover as well. It had flown fine on two different days the previous week.

If I turned off the gv-1 and flew on curves it ran perfectly fine. I thought of doing a gv-1 reset from the hidden menu. I also have the two values in the hidden menu set to the recommended values by Raja. I have gone through the gv-1 setup menu and all is as it has been for the past 4-5 years.

There is no clutch slippage as this only occurs when I turn on the gv-1. My curves are set so that Id1 and Id2 are v curves. At mid stick in normal mode I have 33% set in the throttle curve so the gv-1 should not be turning off based on stick/percent position.

Thanks for any ideas.

i have had something similar happen with my GV-1 a while back.
my engine would also surge (not as bad as yours) but it was more like the gov was comming in and out of engagement for some reason... later I found out that by changing the throttle endpoints in the Transmitter AFTER setting up the GV-1 was the cause. Some pilots have had issues with the GV-1 as well as the 701/750 cause they mistakenly change the throttle endpoints or even the curve in the TX trying to get a good idle or trying to get the engine to start at the field (after setting up the gov), thereby messing up the Gov.

showing a preference will only get you into trouble, 90% of everything is crap...

Thanks RM3. I had removed the engine to change a coil but I reset the gv-1 idle, stop, and high settings after.

I am going to try the RESET tonight I think.
