Can't seem to keep the cursor away from "add to cart" on this one (oh the pain, says the checking account):

Watch at YouTube

Configured just like this with a 6S batt, this would be a nearly perfect FPV platform. The trick is finding a place to put the cam and VTX.

Almost want to just buy one, build it and then figure out a DIY cam solution afterwards?

It's the turnbuckle arrangement that's tempting me also. With those, you could get the swash exactly level and the tracking utterly on the gnat's a$$. That's what you need for FPV to keep the vibes down....

If you buy the super combo think of all the money you will save over buying separate components.

Go for it.

The landing gear is really ugly though. I would definately change that out right away.

One big problem I'm having with it is you can only load the batts from the front. That eliminates a couple options for installing the FPV cam - on my old trex and the Whiplash, I just DIY a mount on the bottom with the cam sticking out the front.

So still cogitating on that part. Some kind of angled thing under the flight pack is a possibility perhaps, and I can just velcro the VTX on top of the pack...

But on 6s like in this vid, it sure would fly realistic...

Might want to talk to the Albuquerque crowd. I know two of the guys bought them when they came out and one for sure isn't flying his any longer.

Well it is horrifically overpowered, so if it's flown the way it is in most videos, yeah I'm sure it's going to eventually self-destruct or present some kind of problem .

But I'm thinking of very low power usage with a single 6S batt, like I do with my old trex 700 and the Whiplash. This makes a big heli into a perfect FPV machine and they don't tear themselves up.

I'm thinking replacement for the Whiplash which is now an orphan, which is why I'm considering it. And the bigger, the better it'll handle wind etc.....

Well couldn't resist, went ahead and ordered one. My financial future is ruined.

Now off to design an FPV cam mount... I have a couple ideas...

Well truth is I've been thinking about it a while. I've been wanting a large FPV ship for a while and, believe it or not, an equivalently sized multirotor can end up costing _twice_ what this helicopter does. Even if you go cheap cheap cheap on the components, it comes out more than the heli for, say a 1000 sized multi.

And helis have some advantages over multis in terms of how they fly, especially for FPV (mainly the yaw control and collective pitch).

Finally I one day want to see if I can learn to auto FPV. I think I'll use the old trex and the Whip as gineau pigs for that if I get that far, so I may go through some serious repairs in that event....

Not sure you need a camera for FPV. I think you could crawl right up in the cockpit

If I won the lottery, maybe... But the mosquito may be suffering the same fate as my Xcells where Miniature up and went out of business one day. It's getting hard to find information about it and the manufacturer so it may become an orphan soon also...

One nice feature of the Raptor E720/E820 is the batteries load from the bottom so you do not need to remove the canopy for a battery change.

Yepper, I seriously thought about the Raptor, but the Align is a little simpler design and something I'm more familiar with. And the combo ends up being slightly cheaper without me having to rip up one of my existing helis for parts.

I think I can work around the batt loading from the front. Since it'll be an FPV machine, it'll never have a canopy on it anyway. And I think I have a design for the cam to go on the slanted part where the flight pack usually goes...

Guess I'll see how it goes during the build.
