Working on a used Raptor 90 I just picked up and can't seem to get rid of the vertical play in the mainshaft. I have already slid the lower bearing block all the way UP and it helped a bit but not enough. Any ideas?

remove the mast and turn the mast collar the other way around
unless this has been done before it will work
i will assume the mainshaft bearings are in good order
if not replace them whilst the shaft is out

Are you sure you have the bearing blocks in the right way (not upside-down)?

If you skip me I can't play!

The metal lip that retains the bearing should be up on the top bearing block, and the lip should be down on the bottom block.

Yes all is correct - i need a shim. Anyone know if TT makes them?
My blocks are all oriented correct and im all the way up on lower block adjustment. The main shaft still moves just a little and it's drivin me craaazy.
I did not try flipping the collar- will do that and see. Thanks guys for the suggestions.

yes there is a shim between the main gear and the bottom main bearing which comes with the kit, unfortunately there is no part # in the manual.

I haven't ever had to use a shim in either of mine, not that you may not need to.

I googled this problem and came up with some old threads where people were talking about adding TT brand shims that came with kit- ive searched but cant find any. I flipped the locking ring but no luck. BTW- the bearing blocks appear to be Q-UK blocks. Im sure thats where my extra bit of clearance is coming from. I'll stop at the auto store today and see if i can find a 12mm shim of some kind.

If you can stand having "non-Thunder Tiger" parts on your heli, there is a shim kit for the Align Trex 700.

It is 4 (5?) washers of different thickness that fit on the 12mm shaft.

You can get it from any LHS / online that is a big stock of Align parts

Believe 1/2 of what you see and none of what you hear.
