Finally getting my lifetime concealed carry permit and
I have been looking at the springfield xd-s 4.0 in a 9mm......

I was just wondering what you guys carry, and why you like it.
If you carry a sub compact what caliber is it, and how is the recoil?

You will get responses just like with What heli brand to choose.
Honestly it's the one that fits you best. Go to a good gun shop, PM me, I'm not far from you, Cloverdale ish. and handle the guns. see what is comfortable, Also where are you going to conceal it at, what size is comfortable to carry there.
Remember a CCW is primarily to get you out of dodge in a pinch, not a shoot out, most people end up buying to big and end up not carrying or it is a nuisance.
my go to carry is my little kel-tec p-32. fits in my pocket no matter where I go or what I wear. My other is taurus Millenium 9mm. Little bigger but fits my hand perfect and still a small enough gun to conceal easily, Holster or pocket.

Been using handguns for 35 years, was a firearms instructor for many years, but no expert.

CCW

I carry a SIG P238 380 Semi-Automatic. Nice little pistol weighing in at 16 oz. As far as recoil, not bad. Came with the extended mag which gives me 7 + 1 in the chamber.

I appreciate the advice, I have actually had a permit three times before and let them expire,I have been around firearms my whole life.... I used to carry the Smith j-frame .38, I am actually going to rent a few at dons this week... But I really like the fit of the xd-s 9, just not too sure about the concealed part.... probably iwb would not be too bad with a wardrobe consideration.

I was hoping to get a bunch of different opinions, that was the point..... just curious what works for others.

I have that very gun. Fairly accurate but a little thick on ccw. Just got the new Remington R51. Very thin and actually shoots better than the XD. Can't beat the price ether. Under 400$

I am a big enough guy to carry a Glock G21 but I don't usually carry that one. Most of the time I carry a Beretta Nano in a hybrid type IWB holster. Its a nice little 9mm and its not that expensive, about $400. It has 2 magazine options, a 6 round and an 8 round. So you get 6+1 or 8+1. I always carry the 8 round magazine.

I've been wearing a Khar CW9 for the past year or so, but yesterday I finally got my XDs-9 in Bi-Tone. I compete in practical pistol and steel matches with XDM 5.25s. One has over 18,000 rounds through it, and the newer one has about 8,000. No issues. I fully expect the quality and reliability to carry over into the baby brother XDs.

The XDs is a nice little gun but still has the mass to remain controllable. And, yes, I'm a believer in modern 9mm ammo. I carry Speer 124 +P JHP. Do your own homework, but arguably the most effective PD 9mm round out there.

Oh, and I forgot to mention...train, train, train. Even if it's competition such as USPSA, IDPA, or even steel. Proficiency and accuracy can make the difference in life and death in a real encounter.

XDs 45. It works for whatever I need. Works great with every holster I have, pocket, IWB, paddle, and OWB. For the times I can't pull off on of those, I have an ankle holster that fits my S&W J-frame.

I'm going to be getting the Glock 42 (.380) and if the wife likes it, possibly a second. We both shoot FNH Five-seveNs at the range, but they are full size so no CC. I have a Glock 27, but hate shooting it, so it's the living room desk drawer throw down gun. I like the Glock 26, but it is still a little large for pocket carry and some outfits. My opinion only, of course.

Where are we going, and why am I in this hand basket?
