FYI. Jeff at MA said they used arrow shafts to make their torque tubes. I found that the arrow shaft size you need is 2016. I went to a local archery shop and bought 3 arrow shafts, they even cut the shaft to length for me. The measurements of the shaft was the same as a torque tube from MA, just longer. If you order on line make sure to get just a bare shaft, no inserts and to get full length or have the shop cut to length. The length you need is 31 5/16 inches

Fantastic info!!! I'm also thinking of taking some measurements, shopping for some tubing and trying my hand at making a tail boom. Maybe I'll try boom supports after that. We've got to keep these helicopters alive and flying!

15.00 with cutting. You can find the shafts on line for 4.50. I was looking for tubing to make a tail boom but did not find any thing. Let us know if you find some thing. Leon

I'm thinking Align, Next D, Thunder Tiger, Bergen, someone has to have something that might work!

On Heli Freak under the Whiplash sub-section, there is a sticky for after market replacements. You can go there for information or post information on parts you find. There is information on the bevel gears and possible boom replacement. MA bought bevel gears and modified them for the Whiplash. Leon

geomecc: for the older excells, I'm using .750 OD x .035 wall aluminum tubing. It's not cheap, about $13 for a 3' length, then you have to cut & drill, plus paint ( lot of work). More than Ron's was charging for finished tail tubes. But it does work.
