I'm yelling? oopsie

Think your a MAN? HUH? Wanna play with the BIG BOYZ? I'm talkin to you sonny.

Believe it, if it were legal to build and fly a full scale heli and fly it rc it would be a military drone, they done that already. Where would you park it? Most "MEN" have to be content with a legally recognized as non lethal (though they have caused death but rarely) rc heli about the size of this toy,

high tech aerial device, majigger, thingy, muwahahahahaha!!!!!!!!

Are you a "MAN" or are you still playing with your leetul toyeezzz like those 450 you got there?

You know the saying, "Go Big Or Go Home".

(aka the alternate title to this thread)

In some circles you wont get anyones attention without dropping major bucks on the biggest "TOYZ" you can get you hands on. To some a BAZOOKA is a toy. Human beings are often "Toy"ed with.

Just playin.

.......he's just toying with us.......
I don't think he's high on drugs. Maybe he's like me and should be on meds.......I think he's high on helicopters and life. (Maybe cabin fever too.)
icanfly seems to have more fun on this forum than almost anyone else. This is his personal blog and he realizes that. I enjoy most if not all of his ravings. He's certainly not afraid to say what's on his mind, and with a flair. Carry on.

if the big Q were without merit this thread would not exist. It's something I meant to post a few weeks back anyway, Life is about timing. Sometimes waiting for the right moment to come means stepping back for awhile.

I stepped back from rc for very many moons until this 2.4 became known. Now fbl, dfc, cf, and the list of many other small yet important options. All told making a huge rc craft all that much more predictable and safe. Many little positive improvements collectively add up to what you see, is what you get, and what we can get today is nothing short of fantastic.

DFC, my dfc 480 with ar7200bx was up a few weekends ago in the wind/snow and sub zero c temps, high tail gain but no problems otherwise and the gyro/rx is hard mounted to the chassis with only a velcro strap, NO FOAM BACKING PAD (now splain that to me lucy). Added expo in the tx and she's very stable, with 360mm blades and Dominator boom and t-tube. I was mildly surprised and very happy with the net result, up for the absolute first time. An upgrade to 22.2v 1900kv will be in the works as time goes on.

This is a hobby you can take your time with, no one is going anywhere fast and bigger is not always better, just bigger. You follow? You gotta be big to be a man in this world.
more fun
you damn straight, never in my wildest dreams I thought where this somewhat new found interest in rc helis is taking me, UP UP and AWAY in my beautiful my beautiful HELEEEEEEEE da da dandada .

There's prejudice when it comes to heli size, without a doubt, the wind don't blow a 700 around like it do a 450. I took my 450 up a few hours ago and it seemed calm yet as I was hovering a HUGE GUST came whipping through. I can tell you I was nervous the heli would be blown back over a neighbors yard so I quickly pointed it nose down and gave it throttle/collective thus managing to outfly the wind very well indeed. Landed, waited for the gust to pass, lifted off and brought it close to where I took off even practicing another mini auto. Discovered 450 has too much right rudd on th. Little, but very BIG details in the final sum of parts, cool.

itz spelt Ameoba as in people, hehe,

700 is the new 450, I get the size thing. Realistically, you have a hard time seeing a 450 at a distance. The larger helis not only have more substance but presence in the air as well, I get it.

Flying a larger heli is not really a macho MAN toy thing. Some full size helis are small craft only big enough to seat 2 cramped ladies (a double entendre there).

Children of two relations had visited a few years back when I first had my 450 and 550 shuttle, before it was rebuilt. I showed off my 450 and got nothing from them but a gaze and ok. I then took out the 550 and they went AHHHHHHHHHH in unison. At first I didn't understand it but as of rebuilding and paying more attention to the heli the reaction became more obvious.

The amount of space desirable to adequately unleash a big bird is not always available. Some people are limited by their circumstances. We shouldn't ignore or look down upon those flyers because they aren't privileged to own and fly a large scale heli with space to fly them. It's a predicament but bodes unwell for the hobby as a whole. I get the size thing. You really understand when a 450 and 600/700 are side by side. The 450 is the new micro, a 150 a 1/64th dinki car, laughable. It's fun just the same but a micro has no WOW factor.

There's prejudice, even from little children.

For me the words prejudice and hobby should not go together. It should be "fly whatever as long as it is safe and it makes you happy".

Flying is a very personal thing: I am still and every time amazed (like the little boy who I hope is still in me) by the flight of our machines and I cannot care less about what people think, as long as I am respecting every one and not putting any one in danger.

What you say about size, other say about brand with some borderline fanatic attitudes. Yes there are some beautifully designed machines, some cheaper ones and some very expensive ones. The good news is that they all fly and probably make their owner happy.

We should simply enjoy the build and the flight, rejoice that we have many options and stop thinking that a man is made by the size and price of his toys.

I could care less about who I AAWWWWW. I like my 450 and 500. I am in this hobby for ME. Not to buy helis to impress other people. If you like to buy and fly 800's just to keep the attention of the crowd, have at it.

It's not how big your heli is! It's how you wiggle the tail that count's

I totally understand the size VS space issue. For the being able to see thing, that has a lot to do with how comfortable you are at flying closer. I have a blast with my 450 when it's flying well. Keep it within 50 feet and I have no problem seeing it.

For the people that don't fly that come over and see your 450 VS 550. If you want a heli to turn heads of Joe public just build a scale. Most pod and booms even at a 880 size still makes them think toy, BIG toy! but show them a helicopter they can relate to!

I know as pilots we don't think that, but you go to a public flying event and everyone wants to see that apache, Huey, MD500, or even the Airwolf fly. Of course when you get into scale the entire Size thing comes right back and slaps you in the face.

Have fun while it last!
