Context. From the standpoint of risk appreciation and putting proper attention to the dangers for entry level players.. it’s not a toy. From every other perspective… it’s a damn toy. Plain & simple.

I too appreciate the hobby and love the technology. I even name my helicopters. My newest born is a Goblin 700 comp.. her name is Novah.

To call it anything other than what it is. A hobby.
A recreation. A TOY... is taking it a bit too serious IMO. I have very expensive, 20grand AP cam ships and take no offense to whatever anyone wants to call it.(just don’t call it a drone lol)

In fact, I’d rather it be called a toy than anything else. It keeps a certain distinction & perception to a less alarming, identifiable label.

I have a 44 foot yacht. All together now… “It’s a toy”.

Well Chad you bring up the only expection to the idea of toy helicopter....when you have a dedicated heli set up with expensive stabilization, GPS and high end Cameras strictly for AP use....

its no longer a toy...but more rather a tool in that case...

showing a preference will only get you into trouble, 90% of everything is crap...

Understood. But no. A toy in this case. I do have "tools" but this was a toy machine I keep on the boat. And super cheap. An old Logo 14 with a Ricoh GRD camera. Aerial imaging is my job but the tools are full scale.

Are there any wives out there that don’t consider your radio controlled helicopter a toy?

In an age where ignorant politicians look to remove more of our freedoms through regulations just to get a headline and say they care, "TOY" is the BEST term for our RC Helis.

They're all toys, including my dirtbike (YZ450f), streetbike (yamaha r6), boat... so on and so forth. The difference being at what age the toy is meant/designed for.

Doncha lovit? I ordered a HeliOption 700 swashplate which came in today, I looked at the description on the package and it said "TOY PART", hehehe.

I think I'm going to spend some time installing my "toy part" this evening after checking for threadlocker, (how do you spell a whistle, physit physew !)

it's a little bit ironic

IMHO ANYTHING that has the potential to decapitate or kill youshould not be considered a TOY! Ive shown acouple buddys my helis and they are like oh those are cool toys, then i tell them about certaim accidents that have happened up jere om the east coast and they look at it alot different.it prob brings some negative attention to the hobby but atleast they will respect them and give alot of distance if they aroumd when ppl are flying.
