This is one of the definitions of "toy".
"•an object, esp. a gadget or machine, regarded as providing amusement for an adult."
It is what it is. Deal with it dude!
Just toying with you man.
PS: A gun is a toy if you're using it for amusement.
perfectly put bob +1

You ABSOLUTELY can!

Dictionaries are written by humans just like you and, me and are often wrong...different dictionaries give different meanings many times.

I don't want to call rc'rs a bunch of gay dumbasses when not too long ago rc hobbyists were once known as " Radio Control SCALE Aircraft Flyers.

They were due the same respect as full size flyers because many of them were retired full scale pilots, plank or heli. Many of them fly very detailed "SCALE AIRCRAFT". A "Scale Aircraft" is not a toy.

Only until the Airhog was introduced did rc helis become toys. Micro helis are toys, Anything 500 and larger is a "Scale Aircraft". Pay it the respect it deserves. Toys are usually things that are benign, and harmless, passive and non threatening. I know you get the picture.

Benign,
of a mild type or character that does not threaten health or life
good day.

Be happy it's called a toy!

That just reaffirms I'm doing the right thing. When you stop playing, it's game over.

I'm in no hurry to watch the credits roll...

I call my car " my toy car" It is a 2006 C6 Corvette Coupe in Monterrey Red Metallic. It do much except bring a big grin to my face every time I push that little button that starts it. The only thing it hauls is my helicopters to the field. Toy car for sure.

Lol, I still call my 980rwhp blown M3 my toy. And all of us heli guys I hang with still call our 7 and 800 helis toys. Big deal. It does put things into perspective when we all tend to get too serious at times. And it is honestly the reason I haven't taken any moves into the industry as being sponsored or working for any particular company. A few have offered. What a way to ruin my joy in this, I move from playing to a job?

@ bobOD,
After reading the mikado thread on their new transmitter for a while I wanted to get one of my guns out and end it all. So I thought that I would throw something light hearted in the mix.

Good that you didn't...they're not worth it!
Too bad there isn't a button for "Ignore Thread"...we'll just have to continue doing it manually.

So...what full scale helicopter is a Trex or Goblin a scale copy of?

Scale models are miniature copies of full scale.

A Tonka truck is a scale model of rough terrain dump truck and it is a toy.
A "Scale Aircraft" is not a toy.
This toy helicopter is actually closer to being a scale model than a Trex 700 or Goblin 770...

I literally never use the word literally right.

I think guys are just embarrassed to say they enjoy flying big remote controlled model helicopters...

if you feel embarrassed about what they really are, expensive, complex and potentially dangerous toys, then you have an issue about what others think of you...and if thats the case go be a lumber jack if it makes you feel more manly.

quite honestly I don't care if people call them toys and refer to me Playing with toys or call me a remotely operated high performance small rotor craft enthusiast/operator...

I really don't give a rats A$$...

what I do care about is $hity weather and people messing with my free time and touching my toys.

showing a preference will only get you into trouble, 90% of everything is crap...

yea, the whole pod and boom thing throws the theory out the window, It isn't a scale anything, just pod and boom. And scale can go down to ultra micro static models, but are they toys? "Toy" is a stupid cheap trashy incoherent, buzzed, lanky, wonky, ignorant etc description of a high tech device "DEVICE" being the operative. How you use it is anyone's guess. Toy with it or tool with it the choice is up to you. Lots of men's toys are extremely dangerous, rc no different with high rpm blades, "BLADES" being the operative. "A "Toy" with "Blades", go figure. Since when is a blade a toy I wonder.

hehe,

Watch at YouTube

It's just a word.
Not even a real blade since you can't use it for cutting.

Toys with blades...

I literally never use the word literally right.
