Tail rotor is only a collective pitch function.. Not cyclic... The blades are doing the same thing not a cyclic change...
Read my posts closer...That's what I said except that it's not called collective when cyclic is not involved...That is a variable pitch rotor. Just like a tail rotor. A tail rotor is NOT collective pitch. It is variable pitch.

OK...Same thing...

Variable pitch...12° left or 12° right.

Collective pitch...12° positive and 12° cyclic for 24° collectively.

Just the way it was explained to me early on.

I literally never use the word literally right.

Lol you guys are funny... I don't think it matters what it's called right. To each his own. Any ways when is someone going to make a gasser hexacopter for aerials!! Ya know...... One gas motor in a vibration isolated center hub with TT or belt driven outdrives... Simple... oh and with GPS and return to home please. C'mon DJI! Is that too much to ask. Oh and at least 1hr flight times. Ok I know I'm pushing it

For my next annual pig roast, I want to park four of these, one at each corner of my tent...to keep the skeeters away.

Well, aside from the ongoing ping pong conversation. Curtis calls these collective pitch btw.
I had a first person view of one flying out in my front yard today by a pretty good pilot, and it wasn't me! Flips, rolls. Beautiful. No quad has ever impressed me like these do.

Edit; I need to obviously clarify my statement and apologize for sounding condenscending. I had this conversation over on a different forum a few weeks ago. And am still not sure which side to take. Both may be right? Like a good ping pong match this may go on forever, since this is such a unique product. I lean towards collective since the servo does both positive and negative pitch ranges. But since the servo is single, there is not a collective management of servos doing it on each head? But four heads doing it individually? So it contradicts itself. Curtis calls this collective, but does that describe this new class properly?

sorry for any misunderstanding, the way I wrote it earlier sucked. LMH

Just to put to rest the collective/variable pitch debate, collective is called such because it moves all cyclic servos equally regardless of their position. Since each rotor on this quad has only one servo per rotor, they are variable pitch. There is no such thing as a collective of one... The term has been bastardized to mean the the up and down movement of the heli/swash when it actually refers to the collectively equal effect it has on all cyclic servos.
In the end, no matter what you call it, it's innovative and cool as hell.

It was called collective long before anyone used eccpm, or servos. it refers to the collective (same) pitch input to the blades. Cyclic Refers to the Cyclical (variable) pitch change as the rotor disk tilts for a directional command.

I just don't know about that boy.
