And what gives you this impression?
Has Mikado EVER offered an update that adds features...for free?

You said it yourself..."You pay for extra features".

I literally never use the word literally right.

If the software will be available for planks, would I be right in assuming that you will need a vbar, and a vbar receiver in your plank to get it all to work?

Good luck

So you don't like the radio - so don't buy one. Not liking it or not being able to afford it or not seeing a need for it doesn't make it a bad product.

So you don't like the paying for the pro firmware - well don't bother then.

So you just want to whine like a spoilt brat - don't entertain anything from Mikado and go buy something else.

Mikado is not forcing any of you to buy any of their products.

Mikado fanbois are awesome.lol...The butthurt runs strong.lol...

There's nothing wrong with wanting a product to be sold that already does everything it's supposed to without paid updates.

Like I said, raise the price a little and sell a Pro version....Why not?

In that case, I will wait for the big company versions of the technology, like when Futaba finally decides to take there Gyro telemetry further.
Is it me or does that Mikado Euri guy looks burnt out?

Agreed

From what I see the Anti-Miakdo fanboys are the ones with issues. They just can't understand the simple concept of "if you want it buy it if you don't want it don't buy it". Pretty simple really.

2 antennas doesn't mean Futaba. Graupner, Jeti, and Frsky all use the same antenna design, and if I remember right so does Airtronics, Multiplex, Tactic, and some Spektrum.

Questioning something does not make you against it...Anti...

Just offer simple answers to simple questions...

Why not offer a V Bar with the Pro software already installed?
Why not sell a radio that is set up to do everything it was built to do?

Why not?

I can't speak for Mikado, but having released many products in many different industries (I guess you could say most of the products are in one kind of 'hobby' or another) I can answer these questions from a general standpoint.

Software- It is constantly evolving. You release it at a certain stage of development and keep improving it. This is the same almost everywhere in all applications.

VBar Pro Software- It has been hashed over again and again, so I won't get into the reasons you do or do not need it, but you have to look at it this way. I have a product I want to get on the market under a certain price point. Let's say that is $300. Without certain features maybe you can reduce the price for the masses. Maybe, through research, you find that only 55% of all buyers actually purchase the Pro software. The smart move is to offer it as an upgrade so you don't lose the sale to 45% of the customers. I think people need to stop looking at it as costing the 55% (making up those numbers) more to have the advanced features. They need to think of it as saving the 45% a certain amount of money.

--- Insert: I have had many products placed at Best Buy, Circuit City (when they were around) and online giants like Crutchfield. All of those places have certain price categories and you want to have the most appealing product in those categories. If my set of speakers were $999 and amazingly awesome, that is great, but they wouldn't be viewed, displayed or promoted along with the $749 speakers.

Why not sell the radio with everything? This is pretty easy to answer and pretty straight across the board for most products that have 'seasonal' usage. People must realize that a product is rarely ever 100% finished, especially one that involves electronics and software. Do you think they designed the first iPhone and stepped back and said "DONE"! Nope. They had to decide when to stop the development on the first generation and put everything on the table currently into the next generation.

It is most desired to release a product within the timeframe of your customer's active season. For us, a new radio would be a lot better between now and May than it would in Oct/Nov. Because of that and the development schedule sometimes you have to say "Okay, we need to release this now or we will have to wait another year to hit the wave".

Right now we have a product that is being released next month and we are already half way through the second version that will be released this time next year. We have to do that because of testing and validation required.

I hope this sheds a little light onto how products like this are developed, packaged with or without features and released. It is always a balance and you try to offer the best you can within a defined time frame with features better than the competition at a competitive price.

Then you release 55% of your product with Pro software and 45% without.
Tech evolves...Sure.
But you can still release a product that includes the best software you have to date...Just price it accordingly.
Do you think they designed the first iPhone and stepped back and said "DONE"! Nope. They had to decide when to stop the development on the first generation and put everything on the table currently into the next generation.
No but they sent it to market fully capable and offer FREE updates as the tech evolves.
They also sell at least a half dozen versions of the iPhone...Some fully loaded with everything they have so far and some in plastic shells with limited features for a lower price.

Installing up to date software would cost nothing extra at the factory and they could STILL charge a higher price for it and still make more money.

Software is not a limited material...It's a mouse click.
They click this button for Express and that button for Pro.
Don't even need different packaging...a sticker would do fine.

I literally never use the word literally right.

Apple has made both their iPhone and their Mac software updates free.

It's cool to take an old iPhone, and after a few minutes of software updates, have a bunch of new features. The same can be said for the V-bar, but you do have to pay a lot for the new features.

The same reason that games are updated some with cost, computers, some upgrade like office cost.even flight sims like rf updates cost.I can understand that If you brought one didn't like it, then yes.i dont know anything though.i know what, you pay for what you want and for those that fly vbar it's a great day for you.For this hobby another break thru in technology. I think that mikado has laid the foundation for other company to follow. Great job.o yeah those that dont fly vbar keep flying what work 4 u.

I have been told by folks directly at Mikado that Pro software is not used by everyone. Not by a LONG shot. Percentage I do not know but it is not like 90% that do. Much lower I was lead to believe.

Mikado is not Apple and does not active a iPhone every 1.687 seconds on the planet or what ever super lower number it is. I know when the iPad came out there was an article in NewsWeek that said only restraint for Apple was how fast they could make them...

The vbar as it is the PREMIER flybarless unit (to me) we are in a industry so much smaller it is unreal. The folks at Mikado make their LIVING from the products we buy. I have for the LIFE of me NEVER figured out why folks think software should be FREE. It took some guy or guys HUNDRED of hours to write and troubleshoot it for you. The DESERVE to make a LIVING. Apple gives away free updates to one up Google and they have so many sales from different products some products that sell at unreal profit margins finance the others. Plain and simple.

Mikado offers THE BEST FBL system at a great price. If you don't want to pay for pro then don't. Those folks deserve to take their kids to McDonalds too...
