This hobby has already become like computers, thankfully...
it gives us more reasons to keep buying neat stuff.

"Well to the person who thinks mr dan was being a cry baby I' D like you to know I share his terminology on
the firmware issues, I've long seen this as way of mikado][ moneypolize the V-Bar] they made the unit as not so great compared to many out there, then they make firmware upgrade making the unit better.

And sell the upgrade for $50' and that's each time there's and upgrade, "and not only that, if you own 5 V-Bar you have to fork out $50 for each one and they all use the same firmware per capita).

"That's is BS to me and we spend like idiot supporting
the bad practice. ,"for the same reason a T-rex 250 is the same price as the T-rex 500.

And you see this as okidoki].

I was waiting on some honey but there aren't no Queen bee,

"Futaba had nothing to do with it"
Thank you Br.Ben.
"
Other than Mikado contracting the gimbals from Japan (I guess they figured they couldn't do it any better than what's available now...so why try), the radio is 100% out of the mind of Mikado and their designers. They started with a blank sheet of paper
Thanks guys, I will wait for real world testing. Stand back and watch. Stakes are too high!

My thoughts exactly!

If I wasn't so busy with other new stuff already, I'm sure I would already have a DX9, now I have a good reason to wait a little longer.

As far as how the radio "looks"...well, Kyle was helping Mikado with the shape, size, feel, switch placement, ergonomics, data input schemes etc. over two years ago.
The switch arrangement on my 12/8 seemingly is for someone with super skinny fingers(at least not mine). I use aux2 for hold, as the switches are too close together to fit my fingers.(they arent sausages, but still are too big for dexterity between the top switches on my 8 and 12)

I hope to have a reason to get rid of one of my dx8 or 12x.

Don't think the DX9 will be in same price point as the Mikado radio call it a hunch---. I will still get the DX9 not willing to dump all my existing gear. Spectrum work's fine for me.

Ugly can be fixed stupid is forever!

You only pay for the Pro software update if you want to its optional. Also you will not have to pay $50 every time there is a update its only when upgrading from the standard Vbar software to the Pro version.

I have to agree with you about the owning 5 Vbars and having to pay for 5 Pro updates if that what you want them to have it does seem a bit crazy though.

I'll probably keep my DX8 for some time, but I'm definitely interested in this, if the price is competitive - I'll have one.

It seems kinda of, lack of better words, smells Funky! that a company that has only ever produced FBL systems since 2007/8 and mechanical helis, to suddenly come up with the idea of a radio system with telemetry almost overnight.

Something tells me that Mikado copied somebodies homework, if you guys said that Futaba or JR helped then I would be inclined to jump on board without watching. But its just smells funky for such a small company to just jump in ring and start boxing with the heavy weights without at least sparing with the Japanese.

Did you miss the part where Dave Dahl said Kyle has been working with Mikado on this since about 2 years ago?
I think you are underestimating Uli Rohr.

Lol, what? There's nothing magical about making a radio. Most of the radios out there use off the shelf chips to work their magic. If you wanted to go out and buy them you could make a 2.4 radio in your garage.

Make it in your garage, and have your golf buddy get it through cert.

I suspect they invested in some consulting here and there...

oops, bounced it!

Another entry in what is turning into a pretty good array of new radio offerings. I'm definetly ready to upgrade. I'm not going to pull the trigger until I put each and every one in my hands at IRCHA. I've got a feeling that there are still more to come before the annual pilgrimage.

Warning: Flying an RC helicopter is addictive and may become hazardous to your Wealth!

Let me throw something out there.

The last radio out of Germany with similar feature (2.4Ghz, telemetry, speech, etc, not the VBar stuff) was Graupner MX20, which retails for 500€. But it is made in Korea, and it's a radio for all aspects of RC, with much larger market than V-Bar specific helicopters. So I wouldn't be surprised if they priced it at the 1000€ range, anything higher I'd have second thoughts. (NOTE this is purely a speculation.)

But if it's going to be higher than that, then I think the real competition would be the Jeti duplex radios (not the 18MZ). I don't think Japanese sourced gimbal is going to be in the same class as those Jetis. No I don't own one, but I think it's the gimbal that sets the bar currently.

But I do dig the contemporary design. It may look cheap to some, but with the right material it can be pure art.

These are exciting times...

Funny that some guys wanted to wait till they announced the price before buying, but let's face it!... Whether it's $1000, $2000, or $3000 like the high end Futaba, I know a lot of you guys will buy this Radio without a blink of an eye!... I know you guys with Fat Wallets wanted to be the leading man on the field!... "Look what I got buddy!"... Buddy says " OMG"... "That is SICK!"
