When it comes to the bail-out function, I guess I just want to try it out. But I'm not going to buy a Bavarian Demon or a HeliCommand or Total-G or any other of the FBL controllers just to experiment with bailout. I just kind of figured if Mikado was rolling out a new transmitter, they would be rolling out new firmware, and perhaps that new firmware would include a bailout feature to keep up with the competing FBL manufacturers. But maybe not.

When do we get a bailout feature? Every other FBL controller has one.
Wrong. BeastX has never had any sort of bailout or self-leveling feature.

Also, this radio looks awfully cheap for the price it's probably going to command. All black plastic case that's mostly unfinished looks like something from Spektrum. Heck, even Spektrum's new DX6 looks a lot better than that.

^^^^ I too was looking at the radio and thinking it looked sort-of cheap--especially when you see the part in the video where they describe that all of the "brains" of the controller are actually in the Vbar itself and not inside the transmitter. So in this situation, cheap is not necessarily a bad thing if Mikado can manage to sell the transmitter for a price closer to $299 or $349. There is not always a need for a top-of-the-line $1,000 or $1,500 CNC aluminum radio when a cheap plastic radio will do the same thing.

Where are you getting $299 from? It's German. It will be expensive. Also, do all the other German radios outsource their gimbals? Of all people, you'd think the Germans could make some very high quality, precise gimbals.

Far too many speculations on price to say least lol.

Funny people don't mind paying 2 grand for an 18mz and such and for what? LOL Minute something new comes out and only a small portion of details are out it's expected to be a taco bell burrito price deal. :O

Patience... a few weeks then everyone will rejoice or think of something negatively to say.

Maybe I read the specs too quick but I didn't see anything mentioned on telemetry. Now that my e-helis have MAH counters I don't know how I lived without them

Very nice, has a lot of great features. Only drawback is it's only useful for those who fly nothing but Vbar helis. Forget planes, forget any other type of helis. Too bad, I like trying new radios, but this one is too specialized for me.

I'll wager price will be an issue. I use the VBar bluetooth module pricing as the evidence.

I don't think people are comfortable at all w/ $2k for an 18mz.

It may boil down to whether Mikado wants to get big margins on this, or whether they're seeing upside into making their ecosystem more competitive, during more competitive times.

The fact that the parameters are stored in the VBar probably saves $0.00 in costs.

I definitely want one. If the feel in hands is superb (it was nice to see Kyle mention room for fingers, the reason I can't fly Futaba) I might get one. VBar set up convenience would not cause me to buy one if my DX8 is still working. There will have to be a significant in-flight improvement. There may well be. Besides the finger spacing, they call out the strap mount point and grip rubber, so they do seem to be putting emphasis on that.

Maybe as the integrated telemetry package comes together. I would love a precise alarm at mAh consumption (requires some additional sensor).

Great to see the innovation.

oops, bounced it!

Escobar

You quoted yourself not anyone else my friend. As far as how small the radio physically is I can not say, however if I were to guess it is tad larger then 8fg and likely close to a 14SG size? Remember Kyle is not exactly a small fellow, quite tall n all... We'll need to wait to see it in more folks hands escobar, meanwhile take a happy pill and enjoy your day!

A couple other interesting items from the product page...

ESC programming. That would be OK; I don't quite get how that's going to work on a Castle, and I'm done w/ Kontronik.

Assign individual parameters to knobs. Nice feature; very new for VBar. Not as important if the radio makes it more convenient to set up banks. Might be fun for governor headspeed. Much faster for getting gain right. Might be fun for experimenting w/ different gain parameters, agility, etc. to find sweet spots. I'm not sure I trust knobs. Still primarily a setup feature, and not helpful when flying.

The buddy boxing capabilities may be a cut above. I haven't done much buddy boxing, so I don't know.

"Collective stick equipped with optional throw limiter" Whassdat?

Rx pack charger may be a cut above.

oops, bounced it!

This is a nice product but limiting in my opinion. For me to use this radio, I would now need to bring two radios to the filed. One for VBar only heli, and one for everything else I fly. The only advantage of this radio is to setup vbar from the radio, but you still can not change settings in flight. Just use the bluetooth feature. Usually once my VBar is setup, I do not have to touch settings anymore.

This radio is really not that future proof.
