I am changing my old Sport v1 to FBL, but I want an EFL-style head and not a DFC one. Ideally I'd like an Align brand setup. Align has apparently stopped making those types of heads, but someone shared the brilliant idea of buying the DFC conversion kit along with the follower arms and such to get what I want. I wanted to ask those who've done this what specific Align parts they used.
Here's what I think I need:
o [AGNH45162] 450DFC Main Rotor Head Upgrade Set - $50 (lowest eBay prices I found: $44 shipped from US; $40 shipped from China)
o [AGNH45113QA] 450FL Mixing Base Assembly - $23
o [AGNH45115A] 450FL Linkage Ball A Set (2) - $5
o [AGNH45116] 450FL Linkage Rod Set (2) - $5
o <reuse Sport main shaft, spindle, and head bearings>
Total: $73-$83, which is less expensive than the ~$100 that the Align EFL-style head is available for on the net (very few places), e.g., ALIGN 450 FBL Head Only [H45109H] ( http://grandrc.com/p5315/ALIGN-450-...oduct_info.html
), and which might be stronger due to the DFC's beefier grip arms.
Below are some pics of the idea, using KDE parts, from https://rc.runryder.com/helicopter/t716598p1
The other approach I could take is getting one of the many Tarot heads out there (I've found at least three different head versions and two different spindle ones), but I'm a little turned off by the confusing variety, lack of specs, possible Align incompatibilities (I'd like to use my supply of main shafts, spindles, and bearings), and and relative lack of US availability, including parts.
I'd love to hear your thoughts!http://www.helifreak.com/attachment...=1&d=1392815761http://www.helifreak.com/attachment...=1&d=1392815761
