Looking for a 4 blade head. Came across with this one.

Has anyone used this head? Would there be a better option?

I have the same head but have only flown it twice. First multi I've ever flown and did a bit of hovering without any 3 axis gyro help and stock fb blades. Mine flew fine for the brief amount of time but I also have nothing to compare it to. One area of concern for me is the included follower seems to have quite a bit of slop to it and I plan on changing that out when I get back to the project it's on. Other than that it seems built well. Sorry I can't help more,

Chris

I don't always fly helis, but when I do I prefer to fly scale.

I had the same experience as eyefly3d. I flew the head without a flybarless controller (just mechanical phasing) and it flew fine. BUT, as eyefly also mentioned, the swash follower is pretty weak. When I flew the head I used the follower off of another 4-blade head I have, which brings me to...

The Copter-X 4-blade head. It's a floating head (not rigid), well made with a nice, beefy slop-less follower. It's extremely reasonably priced and includes the head, a nice, big scale head button, swashplate --even a main shaft and all links. It flies extremely smoothly without 3-axis stabilzation and looks cool on the bench too as the blades will droop instead of sticking straight out like they would with a rigid head. I prefer this head to the RCA one. Feel free to PM me if you have questions.

I prefer this head that RCA sells. It's made by Roban and the quality is very good.

Hey Barry,
do you have a reference photo of the Roban head on a 700 size fuse so I can see the scale. Wonder how this would look on my MC407. some of the 700 size heads look a little big on the 407 - IMO.

Sorry, I don't. I saw these heads up close at last years scale masters. They looked fairly compact in size and not at all out of place on the cobra. I haven't had the chance to fly one yet, but the guys that had them, had no complaints.

Do these head use the stock swash plate? I'm going to be using it on a Trex 600.
