OK I dont think I ll ever use the telemetry option of the 14SG so is it still worth upgrading from the 8FG super?

GOT FBL?

If you're NEVER going to use telemetry, you may be just as well off with the 8FG. The only other item is that the 14SG is full backwards compatible with Futaba RX's, meaning it will work, FASSTEST, FASST, S-FHSS and FHSS.

I personally like the way the 14sg feels in my hands. Actually feels like your holding something. Also like that there is more space between the switches..

Agreed. The ergonomics of the 14SGH is what I like the most.

Compared to the 8FG, software is about the same with telemetry and servo slow and S.Bus added to the 14SG. Add to that a new form factor with bigger screen, rubber grips, new nav buttons, and wider switch spacing, compatibility with all of Futaba's protocols (S-FHSS, FASST, FASSTest), output jack for headphones to use with audio prompts, vibration alerts, and expanded model memory.

The vibration feature is a big plus in my book. I have the 10 and I very seldom ever heard my alarm go off. The vibration feature for us old....eeerrrr seasoned guys is great.

14SG problem...

Had my 14sg for about a year now and it was good until I noticed the "SW A" labeling wearing off NOT GOOD. Others are now reporting the same thing...

Yes, its worth it!

For the simple fact that, at a glance, you can see your receiver pack voltage and for $5 you can wire in the main flight pack voltage, and set alarms for both; which gives you complete confidence.

Also, the latest firmware tracks the voltage in an excell file format for data analysis. Did I mention this futaba radio vibrates.

If you ask me why tangable alarms for battery voltage are important I'll say, "experience".

Lastly, the real time control you get with the CGY 750 is awesome!

This radio is highly recommended.

I have been flying Futaba transmitters for over 20 years. I have never thought it necessary to complain about letters coming off of a year old transmitter. There are many letters missing from my 9VHP. It still works the same ... as it did in 1990. I think I will send it back to Futaba for repair.
