I don't think it's a mess of an upgrade. It does have some odd behavior, however.

When V2.0 was rolled out, it took quite a few iterations to iron out the bugs. Seems as if it took releases up till about 2.0K to address the majority of the bugs. V3.0 wasn't too screwy, nor was V4.0. With a rewrite of the airplane physics for V5.0, I suspect that had quite a bit of ripple effect throughout the package.

I'm sure it will get better in short order.

Up to version 5.0e now, and I can still fly my heli underwater as long as I don't touch the water with the blades. I've even managed to fly into the water, momentarily submerse the whole heli and pop out of the water and continue flying. Let's see some of those 3D crack flyers do THAT!

It looks as if you can hover upside down with the head button on the ground, as well, just be careful not to scuff up your blades, that causes a crash.

you can still go full throttle and hit TH and the heli just floats down and bounces no damage

I need to update to 4.0r first if that ever comes back in the download section for my desktop. My laptop has 5.0 on it, but I need to update to the newest version since I haven't done that since I installed it. Chuck

I just upgraded to "g" and my models sure don't just float down if I hit hold. If I leave the collective up, the blades stop, and it falls and spreads parts everywhere.

If I fly it down, it lands normally. It may not still be completely there, but it is getting better.

What simulation speed do you use on this sim? I found that I had problems hovering now that I went to 5.0 and reducing the simulation speed to about 75 was the only thing that corrected it. I have had Phoenix for about 5 years and dont ever remember reducing it.

The only way to not crash is up

It is getting better with age. There might come a time where I will miss the helisubmarine feature, however.

It appears that somehow Runtime Games messed with their collision detection algorithm. It almost appears at present that the rotor blades are the focal point of crash detection.

I have been able on occasion, when using the lake or other "water" based flying sites, to fly either upright, or inverted, tail first at a shallow angle into the water, completely submerge, then pop out again unscathed. Other times, it's just a big splash and crash.

I have 5.0.g now and the models won't auto.
No matter what I do,throttle hold stops the blades.

This is a total POS....

Well....I figured out the main problem with the autos.
My throttle hold is set to 14% throttle for nitro models.
If the throttle doesn't go to 0% in throttle hold, the blades stop...I imagine because it won't go below 14% throttle?
Makes no sense because that's a motor setting and not a pitch curve setting....Pisses me off.lol....

OK...Now it will auto...Boy will it auto.
I can do a few piro flips even after it's a foot from the ground...It just keeps flying and flying.

Tic tocs make the model cut in half.
The nose from the main shaft forward doesn't stay lined up with the rest of the heli.

Still a little jerky and it seems the farther away it gets the faster it goes.

Pretty crappy compared to 4.0.r

Think you need to check you settings, as it work fine here in the Uk.

What settings?
The entire sim is junk compared to pre-update.lol..

I have set the weight of my Goblin 700 up to 15 pounds to get a real feel.
Simulation speed is down to 80%

The setting for beginner through advanced is down to 40%

Head speed is 2100 RPM but it flies like the head speed is 4000 RPM

With COG set to neutral,it's tail heavy but only inverted...It's nose heavy when upright.

It has all kinds of cyclic bobbles and wobbles.

Have to drop robustness to 50% just so you can break the skids on purpose with a 100% negative skid bump.

It autos about five times as floaty and light as the real thing and if I fix that,it flies too heavy.

The year I spent dialing in a model to feel 100% real is just gone...POOF....

Should have never considered trading an r level sim for a g
