I sent an email to Phoenix and they told me they temporarily took the update down to take some of the load off the server. It should be back up later. They also told me they were working on a glitch they wanted to fix. Chuck

I am a LONG time Phoenix user. 5.0 flys horrible. All the models are WAY too powerful and the auto zoom is horrible. It zooms model WAY too close and if you turn it off the model gets REAL small. 5.0 is junk at the moment...

4.0 flew 100 times better... ZERO improvement in graphics either. I love Phoenix but this update is a joke...

Last night I tried a roll back on Win7 as thankfully, I had installed something else the day before.

After the roll back the sim .q was up but had all kinds of errors even after it updated to .r

Tried a few things but nothing worked.

Eventually I completely deleted my PRC folder in My Documents section and Programs, and then pasted in a backed up copy of those for one I had made.

After that all was fixed.

Don't know if any of that is of any help, but thought I would give it out as might be.

Other then that I don't see any official way to go back other then to properly uninstall and bring back everything by hand from what ever you had, and btw I did try the 3.0 to 4.0.j update they have on their site but that didn't work either.

Basically word is back up your q or r version before trying any update to 5.0

I can't count high enough to cover the bugs. Stay away from V5b until they get them worked out.

With software, typically a jump from 4.xx to 5.xx signifies a major release. What exactly is supposed to be new with Phoenix 5? I looked on the website, and it still shows Phoenix 4.

I must set my Heli's up the same as V5 lol, i thought it was good last night. The zoom did seem a little too close, you can slide the heli in on an auto now and it does not nose over. The lighting seems way better now.
Overall i like it.

you can now fly under water with just the blades on the surface also you can fly inverted with the blades in the water

NOT the usual Phoenix standard for a second release of a version.

version 5c and probably d, e, f, needed o sort this out

That doesn't seem "REAL"... I don't think I wanna upgrade for now!... There are mixed Negative vs Positive comments regarding this upgrade!

I wished I didn't update to 5 from 4.0r. I don't like how 5 flies at all. Looks like I will be using Realflight more often. I have to give the advantage to Realflight now. I never liked how planes flew in Phoenix. Realflight 7 I like how the helis and planes fly. Chuck

5.0C out now. At least botched autorotations make the heli crash instead of bounce unharmed.

But, not only can you hover inverted in the water with about half of the heli still exposed -- and fly out of it, you can also fly underwater as long as about half your main rotor shaft remains above water. And fly out of it. Kind of like a HeliSubmarine.

They'll get it squared around soon. History has proven that out.

Last evening, with 5.0B installed, I was able to drive their big old Phoenix Biplane around on the grass, upside down. It handled pretty well on the ground for an upside down tail dragger.

From what I gathered, ...it must be one mess of an upgrade!.. I'm sure it will be resolved quickly.
