I finally bit the bullet and ordered a fresh new TDR. Just waiting on confirmation from Mr. Henseleit. Now to start picking out and ordering all the electronics.

If you have any questions about these (which ones to get, which ones are not really needed) be sure to post your questions.
Most of these guys have Mild-to-Wild 3D set-ups and even a few have ventured into the Speed-type set-ups

Do I need any of the electronics on hand before I start the build?

You can actually do quite a bit without the electronics, the motor will be the first thing you need.
If you haven't yet, you should download the manual, print it out and start studying it...
Follow almost everything Jan says word for word and your TDR will fly flawlessly right from the start.

I have downloaded it at work and on my IPAD... I have read the intro 3 times and on my second read through to assemble the head... The reading def needs to understood fully before each step is started...

Def glad I am not the first one building this kit!

At first the manual looks a little too 'wordy', but I prefer it over a few vague photos.

I found the actual assembly of the helicopter to be much simpler than what the manual would make you think. It just points out areas that you need to pay special attention (which is every area on an r/c helicopter).

Motor and speed controller is on the way..

Motor : Kontronic 750-56
ESC: Kontronic cool 200amp - I know it is an over kill.

Found out that the cyclic servos I ordered might not be the best.. Hopefully they will work out..

Finally took the TDR out to test fly... WOW is all I can say.. Heads speeds are 1350,1450,1650. Was surprised how lively the bird is with such low dead speeds. Can't wait to get more than one set of batteries.

Noob!

Ok so Im an EXTREME speed noob!

I've been toying with the idea of going with a goblin speed, but if memory serves arent TDR's around $1300 USD?

I'd like info on ordering, choices available (canopy schemes etc) and what are these going for USD?

ANY INFO to help get me going in the right direction will be welcome!!

Hopefully this isn't thread high jacking, just felt it was appropriate under this one!

Thanks guys!

Kevin

Here is a link to the website;
http://www.henseleit-helicopters.de..._id=258&lang=en

However, I heard that Jan is not selling the TDR I anymore. He's concentrating solely on the new machines.

You can email him at jan.henseleit@henseleit-helicopters.de, and ask for sure...also get your name added to the list for a TDR II or TDS.

I also heard that Jan isn't selling the TDR 1 anymore either you will either have to wait for the TDR 2 or the TDS. I guarantee someone might have an un-built kit laying around that they might be willing to sell you. Check this site or others. Just cause the TDR 2 is coming out, the TDR 1 is still probably the top 3 flying helis out there currently.

Yes, I know of at least one...
I've seen several in the classifieds lately also.

Glad I got one when I did... But seeing the frame for the TDS and TDR2, I would not hesitate ordering one of the new models.. There is almost NO beta testing with Jan.. Jan has only made MINOR tweets since the TDR first came out..

Agree the TDR 2 or the TDS I would have no problem ordering in fact I have been on the waiting list for the TDS for quite awhile and will have one. To get a TDR 2 I am guessing mid next year at the soonest, that is just a guess though as the TDS/TDR 2 are suppose to be released later this year then the waiting list comes into play etc. So either get a used or un-built TDR or put yourself on the list and wait a year +

I am kind of expecting my TDR II before the end of this year, not buying electronics for it yet though.
